New AI cameras randomly stop recording

Post by patric »

I have three IP8M-T2669-AI recently purchased that seemingly randomly stop recording to SD for anywhere from ten minutes to an hour.
The destination is a SanDisk 256GB Ultra microSDXC UHS-I Memory Card.

There appears to be some sort of pattern to the malfunction:
The breaks appear daily, often within an hour of the previous day's break. These times *may* coincide with a logon.

Sometimes I will log on during one of these breaks and recording resumes with the logon. Photo test1-1 shows recording resuming when I logged on. Same with camera test2.

From the logs, it looks like something amiss with the clock. I initially set the cameras to "Sync with NTP Server" and DST but toggled those off to see if that had any effect, which it didnt appear to.

Video Detection, Audio Detection, IVS, Smart Plan, all AI bullshit disabled.
Im accessing exclusively with the web interface via browser.

Its got to be something in the firmware for these new cameras to be exhibiting the same behavior.

Hard to say. What servers are connecting with the cameras or recorders?

What I find odd on my systems anyway is that I have issues with ASP and or other 3rd party hardware that I have connected from 1 point or another in my system. Then my Cameras and or even Recorders will fail to record. Only thing I have going for my system is that I have most of my footage being backed up on events to an FTP server. (To be honest that could be the issue as well) I say issue because even though I have it setup for same time zone on that computer. I did notice that if I log in from that computer to the camera and do a Manual Set of the time it changes my TZ to same type but a different Country and not where I want it. Even though I can't seem to find anyway to change that. So I setup the computer now to serve as my NTP time server and have setup all my systems to use it. Also only other area of issue was with my Lorex Doorbell being connected on my network. Since removing the Doorbell and adding back in my AD410 and setting all going to my computer for TIme I have not had an issue with the times being off an hour and or recordings missing. 3 weeks so far. My DVR is off about 1 to 2 minutes a day oddly. About Midnight they restart about the same time however as of right now NVR showing 9:10pm and my DVR is showing 9.11pm

NTP Server clock.isc.org (subsequently disabled)

Port 123

Update Period 10 Minutes

No 3rd party hardware, ASP, NVR or DVR not involved as the camera is accessed by browser.

So I don't have your camera, This is from my new AI camera that is around 2 months old now. I reboot my camera every day.

So what I would do tomorrow the first time you log into your camera for the day go to setup, Information, log, and do a search for the logs. Then click on the one that shows the current log in time for Time Set and see what time it changed from. If it was like mine, less then a min or 2 then the camera should be fine for recording.

Personally I don't know what is going on. Normally issue is 2 times a year a camera or 2 of mine anyway get going crazy and have to fight this or that to get it to clear up the issue. If the camera is new it might be that the change from 1 zone to another and having dst or other features changed might cause the same issue?

Did you setup for the Amcrest Cloud? I know you said you connect using WebUI, I am just asking as I don't know and maybe you have it and didn't think about that with your Post? If you do that might be something to look at as well?

No Amcrest Cloud. WebUI only.

Is there a way to check for a firmware update without opting into a marketing campaign?

Click this link, There will be a pop up just hit the X then scroll down to your camera type if there is an update it should show there. Also if you log into the camera (Not all but some) there could be a link that says DL current Firmware and will take you to the same page. again CLICK X on the Welcome thing and then scroll down to look at FW they have to offer..

there is 2 new ones to the one you posted your camera having 7-15-22 and 8 something 22. So there are some newer ones maybe your camera had a known issue with the released FW. My guess is that the update info in the txt message, I didn't look will say that after the update a Reset should be done. I personally would do a Factory reset just incase your problem was carried over. Doing a factory reset after update could solve that..

After upgrading the firmware on one camera last night (to V2.800.00AC001.0.R, Build Date: 2022-08-23), I log in at 8:48a. I have no idea what the "System Events" were since I wasnt logged in.

1 2023-07-22 08:48:56 admin Set Time
2 2023-07-22 08:48:56 admin Login

24 2023-07-22 00:07:17 admin Set Time

Ive also noticed that formatting the sd card doesnt erase all of the previous recordings, as I can see fragments on the timeline that were made before the last format.

Sorry not something I have heard before. Are you saying that doing a format of the sd card when you bring up playback there is recorded history older the time of last format? Events in logs if you click on them it will display what the event was.
Also system events can be things that the camera does on its own, where admin events are done by the admin account from being logged in by admin or other things with admin access. Like recorders. Also any 127.0.0.1 access would be made using p2p from app.

The timeline bar shows fragments of recordings older than the time of the last format.
P2P has never been enabled on any of my cameras,
no NVR is linked to them, nor any 127.0.0.1 or app access.
This is out-of-the box behavior from new cameras.
