NAS options....QNAP or Synology

Post by Jordan77 »

I am about to purchase one of the two NAS devices and wanted to know what everyone thought about them as well as using them with the HD PRO cameras.

Will they work? Which one is better?

I have the Synology 1513+ and expansion chassis, and would highly recommend the units. I use it for storage for all my gear ( including Windows, cameras and other stuff).

I was leaning towards sinology or austor.

Just thinking about it now.....what NVR would work with the ProHD?

I have the NVR4108 and IP2M-842/IP2M-842E cameras. I'm sure you've read a lot of posts so you know some of the issues with these but once you get it configured it works well and should only get better with software releases. I went with NVR over NAS because they are inexpensive and you have support/forum to help resolve issues. If you have multiple cameras it makes config and access easier because you do it all through the NVR. I record 24/7 and use LiveViewPro for remote viewing and motion alerts.

Hello,

You can try the NV4108 with Amcrest IP cameras. You can manage and record all cameras in one place and have it display output to an HDTV/ monitor. It does not come with HDD. It needs to be purchased separately.

Is that the top of the line model for Amcrest?
