Motion Detection Region and Surveillance Pro Smart Search

It seems that the Surveillance Pro Smart Search feature only works if the camera has Motion Detection turned on. It also seems that the Smart Search detection region is limited to any selected regions that are set in the camera. Is this correct?

A problem with this behavior is that if I set a region for motion detection in the camera that, for example, will send me an email if motion is detected in that region, I cannot then use the Smart Search feature during playback to search for motion in other regions of the image. This means that I can only use one search type or the other (notifications or Smart Search), but not both. Is this how it is supposed to work, or do I not understand how to set it up properly?

Yes the smart search is only for motion detection videos and it will only work with areas set up under the motion detection settings.
