Any recommendations for dealing with clouds? I have my cameras set pick up motion decently but some clouds come by and I get literally 200 email alerts. I adjusted the settings and then my cameras didn't detect a car pulling in the driveway.

@Siussis7 - I smell something very fishy about your post. Your link is to a site featuring a competitor product (Hikvision)... Did you bother to price this system for home use? How will you monitor it? When someone approaches your door or your parents, you will run to the monitor and check their temperature before letting them in?

While Amcrest also just released a Dahua-based thermal body temperature camera system, the cost for their featured system+NVR is $19,999 - now on "sale" for $14,000!

And FYI - recent research determined 6 distinct clusters of Covid-19 symptoms, two of which have NO fever. The symptoms common to all 6 clusters were headaches and loss of smell.

So take your dead fish and put it on the porch. Those knocking on the door and not recoiling from the smell should not be let in.

@GaryOkie - Yes indeed. The post broke forum rules and as such has been removed.

This is a widespread problem with almost all Amcrest cameras. At the present time I have almost 30 cameras spread over six different locations. They all react differently to motion sensing. But none of them in my opinion operates correctly. My doorbell camera activates all night long with a slight change even of any kind though I have it set a minimum sensing. In the day it picks up cars hundreds of feet away traveling down the highway several hundred feet from my home.

I have five of what they called the goliath cameras three of them won’t sense motion at all. The other two snowflakes bugs dust in the air rain the slightest light change activates them day and night so I constantly have activations this is in three different locations. I have tried dozens of different settings.

I also have several of the 1080 indoor pan and tilt cameras some of them Will not sense motion at all others activate and don’t record I have one that activates and plays everything back in slow motion so a 30 second event takes five or six minutes to play back and watch.

I have worked with Amcrest for hours and hours on the phone with them for hours and hours had them in my computer trying to adjust some of these cameras and look for glitches for hours and hours finally they just gave up.

Both where the outdoor gulith cameras the very expensive ones, and where new other than the weeks they attempted to get them to work. They wanted to charge me $60.00 for shipping. to return to newly purchased goliath cameras saying they don’t know what is wrong. It cost me several hundred dollars to get them put up into good outdoor location an would be several times that to get them back down and then up again.

After at least 10 or 12 hrs of on phone and computer time I gave up trying to work with them completely. I think the cameras are highly overrated when it comes to motion sensing and recording security cameras.

The rest of the cameras features picture and reliability seems to be pretty good unfortunately their motion sensing is totally worthless in most cases. Unless they are in a room with nothing changing , dust, bugs, rain, snow, lights, reflections or anything else you can think of. As a security motion sensor camera they don’t work without multiple Faults notifications every day. and are not reliable. That is not just one model. I have at least four different models in use none work as advertised. Sorry I just call it as I see it. I cannot leave any of the cameras motion activation to my iPhone turned on overnight as it wakes me up dozens of times all night long.

Well here is a update, after hrs and hrs of looking at my cameras I found that the ones that did not have the correct time stamp on them where the ones not Recording or activating motion, They are now doing events just like the rest of my fleet ( over 30 different cameras) The problem still is that every thing still sets them off., Rain, snow flakes, leaves, lights reflecting off my fence at night, Bugs, Snow, My front door bell is the worst. ( this is the second one) I was sent a new one because the first one did the same thing. Amcrest tec's worked with me for hrs both on my door bell and the large ones. That they could not even get to work, I think in their hury there is to much technology amed into the units before they know how to make it work. Other brands seem to work much better and dont give 100s of alerts that show nothing every day. Try multiply that by a dozen Like I have with my 30 cameras My phone cant even keep up. Wake up Amcrest something is not right.

Really.. I have many brand cameras and I am sorry but they all act the same.. I even have some Hikvision that when I setup Line Crossing or Intrusion that a mini Wild Rabbit will set it off.. But I can have my 5 year older Samsung camera in the same area with the same type of AI setup and it will not trip.. I use this because it is setup to give less false alerts and even that isn't 100% but is better...

Sadly it isn't just Amcrest and yes I have loads of cameras, I have some that I bought over and over again trying to find the right one for a task.. Then there is Cheap cameras that I have bought and shocked how good it would work over the Amcrest, or Hikvision or even Dahua cameras.. Sadly it falls short because there is no ONVIF or ability to be recorded on anything outside their own Cloud or MSD and that don't work for me..

Now then there is some Facts on Quality when it comes to CVI and sadly most of the lower and I am guessing the higher end CVI they have kept out the ability for OSD and the ones without it don't have the option of being color at night like I can on my TVI cameras... I have some TVI cameras that even have Smart IR but working nothing as good as the Amcrest Smart IR in their IP cameras... To be fair 90% of my cameras are Color at night now.. Even my main TVI cameras need to be Color to cut down on the false alerts.. Sadly there is no matter how much we try no 100% real way to get a camera that is perfect in the since of not producing false alerts.. However there are some that can come close but the Cost for such cameras are very high.. Like I said my Samsung cameras from many moons ago have some very good CPU's in them and they do great work sadly most of them cost me 350 to 1500 each and I guess you do get what you pay for... Even my Color at night Hikvision (ColorVU) camera isn't perfect have a few with PIR that still false don't know if Amcrest has any in the Real line not talking about the Smart Home line as I know they have a couple there but for me the PIR cameras I own are still not Perfect.. Even have one that has Red/Blue lights and Siren that can false alarm with a dog going by so I have the alarm set to lights only unless I set off manually...

It is apparent from your response that you are well versed and very knowledgeable about cameras and the electronics that goes with them, I am not. Nor I would is suspect 90% of the people or customers that have gotten Cameras to just do a little security on their homes or maybe weekend retreats, cabins or who knows.

I unlike you I do not have a lot of other brands of Cameras, I only have Amcrest as I wanted to keep my learning curve to only one kind of cameras. It is difficult enough to learn all the different process of one system almost impossible at least for me to learn several, Anyway, I originally got several cameras to go in five different locations so I could do a little security at those locations when I was not there.

As a Camera Amcrest for the most part works well, Normally the picture is good in generally they work well. My whole problem is as I learned more and they said that they also had Motion sensing and Night vision. I thought that was great, except it is worthless. I say that because it imply s that you have something that as least works to some kind of acceptable usage. The door bell that I have Is totally useless at night, Any light, bug, snow, rain, dust, that goes across it at night sets it off, no mater what the distance or setting. This is the second one I got from amcrest. Its no better than the first one/ I have tried all the settings, Both close and far. I have tried all the sensitivity settings. At one time I had a technician working with me, But when the whole covid thing started they quit responding, I was at that time having the same problems with the four Large outside ($600.00) each Amcrest cameras I have, as well as several of the smaller units I have. All pretty much the same response they alert to everything.

The problem is all the rest of the cameras that I use or try and use for motion do the same thing. So I can't use any of them as motion sensing cameras. If id do between three or four being on I have hundreds of alerts each night. So much so that my phone is lit up all night long trying to record all of them. Some don't even record any thing, Just send alerts. So not being digitally knowledgeable ( as I expect most of us are not) any of the motion parts of any of the amcrest cameras are only marginally usable at best, And that is only in the day. At night any lights even little flickers of in the distance well out of the setting and or sensitivity settings are.

The 858W the very expensive ones are no better I have five of them, Don't get me wrong, they are a very good working and well made camera. The NV is great Hundreds of feet away. Except they alert all the time, Or not at all. I have driven a car across in front of several of mine (During the day) and get no alart at all, then turn around and go the other way and it alerts. It might record or it might not.

Again just the motion sensing parts. Lights Bugs, rain , snow, dust or anything no matter what the setting. I know my Motion flood light does not do that, and it is a cheap one. As I said the cameras as a whole are great. just do not expect to use them as a security Motion cameras. Sadly that is the biggest part of the reason most of us bought them in the first place. I have even tryed thuning the NV light off so as not to attract the bugs, light up the smow or rain. It helps but dosen't work near as well as it cannot see very well with no light. As far as
As far as a technician it requires about three layers into the group to get any one that seems to know anything other than reading back a check list back to me, All very frustrating.

Awww yes ok understand...

Sadly with all that and something that I am fighting really myself in my area where it is Really Humid all the time and I get loads of Rain and Snow.. So while I do setup my system for Day time Alerts and turn them off at night time and that seems to work well for me in most cases..

Sadly with out having the NEW AI tech false alarms is just something that has been going for some time.. For me after trying to have only Motion setup just didn't work for me.. SO I have it setup for day time and alerts to my phone are off after a set time and then they come back on in the AM.. I just use the alerts to look over them times to see if there is anything that needs to be looked into more..

Next month is my Birthday and I have told my Wife I am buying the AI NVR and with any luck it will cure most of my issues and give me a better since of Night time Alerts...

Most of my Cameras are running in Color at night because they are able to with all the light around them. The ones in the back are in IR and I have the Motion at night muted to keep peace with my wife lol.. However I do look over most of the footage most times it is Skunk, Raccoon, wild rabbits or cats...

I do have a DVR that I replaced my 2016 TVI dvr that has line crossing and Intrusion sadly that isn't even as nice as one of my cameras from 2014 the new one will detect a plastic bag blowing in the wind and set an alert where my older Samsung camera from 2014 would reject that.. Sadly not all systems are made equal..

Just remember once you find a Good Spot for a camera that your working with it might not be the same settings that will work for same model camera in different location. FOV, Light, scene obstructions, and many many other factors... Each camera has to be setup to the area it is installed..

Sorry to hear that things happen with Covid and the lack of SUpport that you have mentioned.. Maybe with things starting to return to normal maybe Support will get back up to Full Staff and get things sorted for anyone needing it... For me Best Practice is just turn off Alerts for most Motion at night... Something you could look into if your cameras have the offering like some of my PTZ is using some PIR sensors to help with Detection I have mine setup for Making sure my PTZ camera is pointed to the Area of interest

Edit here is a few of my recorders some not even showing Motion because it would be solid yellow line so I have it setup for full time only.. Will show 3 different recorders for 24 yesterday Sadly the second Recorder will just load all the events into 1 time line so that is why it only shows 1 line
