PTZ on Audio Alarm Feature
The PTZ on Audio Alarm feature is something I've found extremely useful on newer models, like the 853 and 858 cameras, but unfortunately, it’s missing on my older 850EB model. However, it's also available on the 841, 941, and 1051 models via the WebUI camera setup. Here’s how I use it in a few areas of my setup:
Basement Stairs: I have a camera on the basement stairs, which is a key area since it’s easy to bypass the camera outside if someone manages to sneak in. If the 841 in the basement gets rotated to a different view while I'm monitoring something, the audio alarm is set up to automatically bring it back to preset 1 if it detects sound—such as a door opening. This way, if someone tries to break in, the camera automatically reorients to capture the action. I use Alarm input for another reason at this location.
Garage Setup: I have three doors in my garage: a 16-foot main door, a regular walk-in door, and an 8-foot back garage door. Each of these doors has an 841 camera linked to preset 1, which activates on audio alarms. For instance, if a sound is detected, the back door camera triggers a PTZ camera outside via my NVR, ensuring comprehensive monitoring. This PTZ camera has guard presets, so it returns to its default position after a set time, covering other crucial areas around the garage. All while the 841 inside returns to preset 1 to ensure the camera is pointed at area of interest
Cabin Setup: I have four 841 cameras in my cabin, all with audio alarms set up to return to their main preset position if sound is detected. This is especially useful in quiet locations where any unexpected noise could signify a security breach. For example, my cabin’s front door camera is positioned to cover an adjacent door that’s not directly in view of other cameras. A sensor on that door triggers an alarm in the front door camera to reorient, providing complete coverage. One door sensor and audio alarm 2 presets the camera covers.
This feature is excellent for anyone wanting to ensure their cameras are always oriented correctly without needing to manually reset them, especially in low-noise environments. It’s an easy yet highly effective addition to any camera setup that offers the feature. Using a NVR with Audio cameras with audio alarms enabled can do many things on any of the connected cameras.
I thought I would mention this seeing I think it is a feature that might be over looked by others that might find the feature useful.
