I was attempting to solve a network issue. I pulled up Wireshark and found that my IP3M-943 camera was sending out an ARP request to my router's IP every second. The camera is set up with a static IP with my router listed as it's gateway. I have attempted to disable the ARP/Ping service in the network settings as well as a host of other settings, but it just sits there spitting out these ARP requests. I've updated the firmware to the 7/31/17 build.
Any ideas?
EDIT: It will continuously ARP request whatever IP is in the gateway.

Re: Loads of ARP Requests
The arp/ping option in the Network Settings is an obscure way to set the IP address. It is explained in the Help. Network devices uses ARP to map an IP addrress to a MAC address when trying to send a packet . The Camera couldn't communicate without ARP. Normally when ARP gets a response for an IP->MAC mapping it is cached to avoid network congestion. So why isn't the cache working, and why so may transmissions?
Re: Loads of ARP Requests
Just set up 2 new cameras (IP2M-841-v3). One wired and one wireless. Fixed IP for each.
(Already have 5 other Amcrests including three IP2M-841.)
Getting endless pings to gateway resulting in securitiy popup for duplicate IP address and can't stop them.
Set ups are identical to what was used for previous/older cams.
Manual says to get more info from Help on TCP IP tab. There is no such help button.
Please advise!
Is it as "simple" as unchecking the Enable ARP/Ping check box?
If so, why is this necessary for the new cams only (is checked on all other cams installed and doesn't cause problems)?

Re: Loads of ARP Requests
One thing that I have noticed on my IPM2-841 cameras is that weather you are using it or not, with a fixed IP address you must reserve 2 IP address for each camera. The camera seems to assign a wireless IP and a wire IP address even in it is not connected. That is most likely where your IP conflict is occurring.
Re: Loads of ARP Requests
Thats something I am starting to believe as well. I have a 941 and it has 2 different addresses as you mentioned. My routers ARP table is showing both addresses even though I am only using 1 of them actively (wireless). The wired address shows up none the less.loren wrote: ↑Mon Jan 18, 2021 5:03 am One thing that I have noticed on my IPM2-841 cameras is that weather you are using it or not, with a fixed IP address you must reserve 2 IP address for each camera. Re: Loads of ARP Requests
Way to cure that is to only use 1 form of connection to your cameras... While in most cases doing the Cable install and then setting up Wifi has seem to be the fastest way for access to the cameras, I have found on some FW the Wifi Setup does work and I found that it will only have 1 IP in the ARP table..
Only other thing to do and I personally will not, and that is turn the cameras ARP ability off..
