IR Illuminator

If the camera is mounted outside can you have the IR Illuminator inside pointing out a window? Just need better outside lighting when out of town. Any recommending good one?

I personally have not tried to use one of my IR Illuminator though Glass.. I know there are some issue that can be had with different wave lengths going through. Another issue one might have is this going to be Single pane, double with Low or Ultra Low E type gasses between the panes..

Longedge has some IR blasters that he really likes they are mounted outdoors for cameras that are indoors and are not overly costly.. I will do some testing tonight to see what I get through my Milgard Low E window. They are not the best but they do have some Low E Coating and gas between the panes. I have a couple of different IR lights I will test with..

However as I was saying it would be or could be a Hit or Miss depending on your type of windows.. About Recommending a good one that is kind of hard as there are so many out there today that are just OVER Blasting and some that are able to be controlled by Remote or how much voltage one puts to it.. iLUMINAR used to be a company I used only for my IR they have long Warranty on the lights and some have ability to be controlled by Remote for adjustments.. Personally in todays market they are just to costly for most home owners use so Looking else where is easy to do..
Be Safe.

Some newer windows have coatings that block infrared, so if you can mount an illuminator outside but out of the elements you will have better luck.
A relatively inexpensive illuminator can be had here https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07CJDJ3VP which might allow you to experiment before investing more.

Downside to having external illumination is you wouldnt be able to turn it up/down or off from the camera controls.

Revo2Maxx is correct. I have a couple of IR illuminators ( https://www.amazon.co.uk/T-L2019C-Tonto ... 444&sr=8-3 ) and they work well for me.

One of them is on a shelf inside my greenhouse, the arrow marks where the light is and this is the current view from my indoor camera. The pool of light on the fence is from the greenhouse light. To the naked eye, my garden is in complete darkness. The foreground is illuminated by IR from an external camera which is attached to my NVR.

My other illuminator is mounted externally and also complements the light from an external camera on my NVR. Once again, to the naked eye the whole drive is in complete darkness.

Thanks for the great info guys, was not thinking about double pane glass. Thinking outside is going to be where it needs to go, hoping to cover a large area. Will look at some IR flood lights.
