Also, when recording to FTP it creates a different folder for each hour of the day. This alone is infuriating enough to not get this camera. I didn't even want a IP8M-T2599E but bought it because the IP8M-T2499E where no longer available. Seems like this newer camera is a downgrade to the older version.

The infrared illuminator definitely is a downgrade.
Sure you can add more external illuminators but they wont be software-controllable.
I also lament that the new camera doesnt come in black, or that they dropped the 4mm lens option (very noticeable if you have to mount a camera in a corner... unless you actually want to see a lot of the wall behind the camera).

Three days after I got a T2599e my newest T2499e croaked and I had to replace it with my new "spare."
Good news is that the new model is the same form-factor as the old model so it fits in the T2499e turret like a glove. Bad news is most of my cameras are black so now I have a white ball in a black turret.

Now that I can compare, I must admit I cant tell much difference performance-wise with the new models infrared illumination, so that might not be a big issue. Time will tell.

Swap them out.. My guess is that it would be easier then you would think.. Well as long as they both share the same MSD and Reset case? Even if they don't there are a lot of people that have to take the cameras apart to change out a MSD or Reset the camera.. Plus without a Door makes it harder and longer the someone to break in it and steal your MSD to take evidence...

Anyway I will admit I have swapped out cameras in bodies. To be fair I just take the cameras like my older Cameras that Requires special outdoor housings to even be able to put them outdoors so a few Screws and 5 to 10 min later done... One of my old CVI cameras was damaged by a tree that fell asked Amcrest about maybe having a replacement there in a BOX of things that will end up in Ewaste was told no can do.. So I found another camera that was also outdoor, Older quality wasn't as nice and took out the camera that was in it and added in the Amcrest CVI camera.. Might not say Amcrest but it is Just need to make sure and I am going to guess they are but need to make sure the cables are the same or swap them out as well. This is the hardest part..
