If that camera is the one I think it is, You picked a camera that I personally wouldn't want to take a part to try and adjust the camera lens. Personally I have a hard time understanding the 8mp camera with these Fixed lenses.
Something to keep in mind. When you adjust the lens if it can be depending on the type of securing they did to the camera. I am not sure if they used a Set screw or Glue, Then depending on the lens, It might be that you have to go into the sensor to get it to the Focus your looking for and if it is a long body lens it could damage the Sensor. Then because of the type of camera it is if you needed to focus out then you might be outside the area of the cameras glass front. Most times these are very tight fight to start with. If it was a Bullet style camera then there is normally much longer area of play seeing the camera will sit back in area longer then a small turret ball.

Most times I have in other cameras been able to make some changes to the lenses to suit my needs. This is not something you want to do to a camera that wasn't designed for such use or one that is still under warranty. I have even gone as far as changing lenses and mounts to one that has real IRC only fall back on this is won't help much if there is no controller for the irc lol however I have used some ext control on a couple of cameras that didn't have the IRC and wanted it. Was able to use the control of one of my IR leds to tell the cameras IRC to change positions. Doing this you would need to unmount the lens with 2 screws inserting the new mount with IRC and lens. Again most times in a Dome or turret style it can be hard to add that extra length of lens and mount...

I also come from CCTV of yester year where I had to buy lenses outside of buying the camera. While some of the I have might be fixed. I own more VF and even some CS motorized lenses for my old box cameras some still in use today..

Fascinating - thx for your reply!

I actually asked Amcrest Support what c/cs Lens mount size they used? But as I say, still no answer, so I suspect they don’t know?!

Because many of my cameras are in self contained (and reasonably weather proofed) boxes - such as bird box if hedgehog box - I was wondering if I could remove (and leave off) the front of the turret ball? This might then give me more room to adjust the Lens? I’d be very interested in your opinion on this?

Also, here in the UK we don’t seem to get all the Amcrest cameras. (Might also explain why the support isn’t that great?). It’s very difficult to “find” a VF outdoor POE camera on their website. Sure I could go through the detailed spec sheets for every camera(!), but that would take ages! Do you happen to know which models I should be looking at? Ideally 4K/8MP.

Well that is just it. The cameras are not gong to be using the C/CS mounting system. They are micro Mounts.

About the taking front off and keep it off isn't something that I would do, It is as a setup from factory with a Gel Pack in side to keep humid issue down, and sealed to keep dust and water out. Keeping the front on after making adjustments is going to be a factor on how long you want your cameras to work. In the past using box cameras with C/CS mount lenses if i wanted to use out doors I have outdoor boxes for them, I have some cheap ones to very Costly Dahua one but cost reflects the quality in this case..

Also don't know what is offered in UK, I know that the cameras would have something like VF or Motorized Zoom or Motorized VF in the listing. I know there was one I was looking at however in the 8mp range with MVF your looking at almost 300USD..

As promised - here's an update.

All 3 of my IP8M-T2499EW/EB cameras were on the same FW version (v2.622.00AC000.0.R) but had a build date of 15 Apr 2019. Available on the Amcrest FW download site was the same version, but with a newer build date (22 Oct 2020). I have only tried updating the FW on one of the EB ones at first. Two immediately noticeable changes between before and after:

1. Before, the WebUI wouldn't work in Chrome. I could only use IE. After, I get a "IE no longer supported. Please use Google Chrome " message under IE. But now Chrome WebUI does work!

2. However, before (under IE WebUI) I could see the much larger picture under the main stream. After, (under Chrome WebUI), main stream doesn't appear to work, and instead I get a message saying "It has auto switched to substream for better video playing experience", and now I can only see the smaller sub stream 1 live view. Main stream resolution is set to 3480*2160 and sub stream 1 is set to 640*480 (VGA)... hence the smaller screen. AVP on the iPhone still works fine however.

Other than that, I can't see any other changes or improvement. But at least I now know I have the latest FW and its important security patches.

Is the Live Image restriction to sub stream 1 a Chrome issue (which is what I suspect)? Any comments or ideas?

Once again, many thanks in advance for all help that has been offered.

Not sure how long you have had the cameras or what functions were on the cameras in IE. I know for my cameras there are a lot of things missing from when I used the camera with IE. I will not be very happy come June when IE no longer works. Only one that has most features with Chrome that I own is the 1190W that I just got. Outside of that all other cameras are missing some key features like 2 way talk for my cameras that offered that. Change in screen type and format from WebUI. Other things that one gets used to when you own camera for long time.

So I have from time to time also had an issue with it changing in WebUI from Main to Sub. At times I reboot the Router and the issue goes away. Outside of that I did have one that was not going away after a reboot and after some adjustments on the cameras setup. Changed out the cable ends and issue went away. Mine was from 4mp camera so with a 8mp camera I would double check port, cable, and that there is enough camera resources for the camera. I know that someone at one time said their camera was taking full connection speed to stream the data. Might be a bottleneck (lag) issue within the network?

@Welshwood
I don't have your 2499 camera but try this on your latest firmware 2499 camera to get the big video image and missing IE features:
Load your camera login page in Edge.
Go to Edge settings, click Reload in Internet Explorer mode, and then login camera.

Edge Internet Explorer Mode is Microsoft's legacy support for IE.  It works for my Amcrest camera with recent firmware dated 21-07-12.
In Edge without IE MODE, camera Web UI loads with small image and is missing some IE features.
