IP8M-T2499EW stuck in reboot loop

Post by fizmod »

I updated my IP8M-T2499EW to the lastest firmware (10/22/2020) today. The process seemed to go normally and the camera rebooted. Surveillance Pro connected and displayed live video for a few seconds, then the camera rebooted, reconnected, then rebooted, etc. I took the camera down, and factory reset it. The password was reset, but the camera keeps rebooting. I removed the SD card, no change. Any thoughts?

I would try to change out the cable and or port of the switch. If you have the ability I would even try using a 12v 2amp power supply if that camera has the option as I can't remember what ones do or don't but that is the things I would do to try and figure out if the camera needs a RMA or just a NEW port or cable.. With it being a POE camera this will ensure that the camera is getting full power by using a 12v 2amp power supply for testing.. There might be an issue with cable or port again with these test that is what could happen.. If your Cable is CCA it could be that your camera is bricked and will need a Replacement. Please note that if that is the case you will want to find out before installing a new camera in the space if the cable is good, connectors are good and could be done by testing for total idea of the issues with the Cable.. When you test a cable it can be hard because without good true cable testing hardware you will not know what the Resistance and things like that most testing hardware that you can get at local Big box wouldn't only tell you if the cables are connected at the ends in the right order it wouldn't tell you if it was high in Resistance and being such can make your Switch, NVR or other hardware work harder to try and power the camera...

What type of Distance is your camera from the NVR or Switch or Network connection...?
Be Safe.

Tried replacing the cable between the Amcrest PoE injector and camera, no change. Tried powering the camera from a 12V 4amp power supply, no change. Distance between the camera and injector is about 4ft. Injector to network switch is 4 ft. The camera was purchased in May 2019. Will Amcrest replace it if it is a firmware problem even though the warranty period is past? I'm hesitant to upgrade any of my other cameras if firmware updates can brick them and that isn't covered by Amcrest.

Sadly this is something you would have to talk with Amcrest about..

Right now not sure how they will deal with Cameras damaged by FW fail. Might be something they can Re-flash but if it was caused by a non Amcrest FW it might be damaged beyond repair do to Coding blocks that would limit the FW from being able to Over write non Brand FW..
Be Safe.
