Hi, I just bought a couple of Amcrest IP cameras to try out - the IP8M-T2499EW and the IP8M-2493EW. On the Amcrest site, it advertises both of these cameras as having a 112 degree field of view. However, I mounted each of these cameras in the same spot and noticed that the 2493EW has a slightly wider field of view. I've set each camera to the exact same resolution and settings and I verified I have the 2.8mm model and not the 4.0mm model of the 2499EW.
Here are a couple of images to show what I mean:

Note you can see my lightpost in the 2493EW image but not the 2499EW image. The orientation of the 2499EW camera is just slightly more to the left, but I don't it is enough to cut out the entire lightpost as well as the flowerbed below.
Does anyone have any feedback or experience with this? Are these cameras really NOT both 112 degree cameras? Any help is appreciated. Thank you!

Re: IP8M-T2499EW-28MM Field of View
Hello and welcome to the forum..
I didn't look up the cameras so am not sure if it matters but could it be that the lens needs to be rotated 90 degrees? While I know some of Amcrest cameras will let you change the rotation of the lens to get a different view I am not talking about a xyz mounting but a Lens rotation? Or I could be all wrong and you don't have a camera with that...
next question are these VF cameras or Fixed lens I know you said you had 2.8 and not 4.0 so I am going to guess fixed but I have seen people say 2.8 when they had a VF and just needed to adjust the lens to right FOV?
Now I guess I will go look up cameras lol

Yeah I see now I am going to guess that on the Dome it is the one with the Wider FOV? I am sorry I don't see any data if your DOME not the Turret but the dome camera I can't find any where that it has a Change of lens but to be fair it don't say anything on my camera that has the option. Sadly mine is only 82 degree lol so yours much wider.. I would take the tool they gave you to remove the dome and take the lens and try and rotate it right or left if it starts to move then it might be like mine and is able to move a Wide right and left to a wide top to bottom if you get my meaning.. Now I can't remember if i had to make any adjustments to the camera or if the view was always right side up..
Be Safe.

Yes the dome is the one with the wider FOV. I have the turret oriented the way it shows in the instructions, but I will try rotating it. Thank you.

I have both the 2.8mm and 4mm versions of this and much prefer the 4mm version.
You can barely tell the difference between the two in terms of "how wide" they look, but the "ultra wide" 2.8mm has more fisheye distortion and tends to catch more unnecessary building structure especially when mounted in a corner.
