Dear Amcrest community,
I recently bought my first Amcrest device (IP4M-1093EW-AI0 with PTZ capability.
And I stumbled into some weird issues and I wanted to reach out to this community to see if this is common or not.
1) When I powered on the device from the very first time with a POE+ connection it made a very strange static zooming sound, I have installed PTZ cam's in the past and they never made a sound like that!
2) I tried using the SD-card function with 3 different SD-cards (class 3 and class 10) formatted to FAT-32 like the instructions indicated, but it would recognize it whatsoever I try, and also when I insert the card in the sloth it doesn't make that distinguishable clicking sound.. I'm afraid to force it to much.
3) When I try to use the inline microphone it doesn't not want to register sound with the original AAC encoding with the android app or my NVR, so I tried changing to G711a and G726 encoding and I made sure that on the live stream the speaker icon was unmuted etc..
Any help would be greatly appreciated, and I will also file a customer support ticked with the AMCREST team as well but I lack the serial number because I'm not on the site atm.
thank you kindley,
P

Update, its a build-in microphone (English is not my native language) and unable to edit my post.
Re: IP4M-1093EW-AI weird issues
Hello Welcome to the forum..
I don't see anything in the cameras stats that says the Mic is Built in. I see that it is with a Speaker for use with Siren.. When I look at the Data Sheet for the camera under camera there is nothing saying with Built in Mic. However if you happen to look at my IP8M-TD2685EW-AI data sheet, under camera it says it has built in Mic. While not all camera would say that under camera, There would be something that says it has Built in and Wire only can see the data sheet for your camera that says it has 1 Audio via Wire.
About the M-SD card. I personally use WD Purple and for a camera that cost as much as yours I would use nothing less. Class 10 and normally it is going to be pushed in until you hear a click. IT would spring forward a little and return to rest when you let go. ONce you want it out push in until you hear a click again and it should then slide out. Sometimes it gets litte fussy with in or out. NOt always but sometimes it can..
About Zooming when you turn on. most of the Many PTZs I own have a Zoom sound. Now I will admit that most of the bigger ones because of the type of housing you can not hear it as much. Then I have a few that zoom lens sound is loud. Thank goodness most of them are mounted so I don't have to hear them turn on after reboot.. Thing is even my Analog Zoom cameras start up the Lens when the camera reboots or starts up. Also in OSD I am able to Init the lens on a schedule or manually. For an IP camera that Init of the lens is a tell tale sign the camera is working. If the camera fails most times the camera will do the right to left and up and down action. However if you happen to watch and don't see the lens move in and out on a power up then most likely the camera needs repair.. Shouldn't be overly loud though. Some times the Stepper motors are running and the lens might not be heard. I don't have any zoom camera or PTZ in my Fleet that the lens don't run a boot Init test.

Re: IP4M-1093EW-AI weird issues
Hi Revo,
You are right the stats don't show any two-way-audio ability, I was looking at the front cover and I thought I was looking at a build-in microphone.
When you download the user-manual from the site, its give you the same manual as the 1063ew model with a generic description that made me confused!
Currently I used San Disk cards, and I will try to give them a little extra push and see if they fit, and if its not recognized I will switch to some WD cards!
I installed couple of lower-end PTZ cam's (RLC-423-5MP) and they did not make any sound, so I wanted to double check if the zooming/buzzing static sound was normal behavior after the Init phase completed and just in idle position. It will be installed outdoors so I don't think it will bother me but I need to check if there were no electrical issues going on.
Any pointers what external microphones would be compatible with this model? If i'm not mistaken it has some bare metal Line wires... I need to do some research first to be fair

Seeing that the 1093ew model has a WDR and a build-in speaker I did not get any wiserPlease note, the camera does not have built-in
audio or speakers and will require an external microphone or speaker to be connected to the audio in or out
dongle wires to function.

Re: IP4M-1093EW-AI weird issues
Yes like older Amcrest 850EB, or the other 853 and 858 the cameras have wires on the main harness. Same with my 1046EW-AI and some others from Dahua that I own that have Audio Option with added Mic and Speaker.. I have personally used many different brands and some where cheap all in 1 type setups that come with plugs and mic that is at the end of heat shrink tubing to ones that are mountable with some that look like half a Golf ball and or a round disk. that were bare wires and I added the ends to both the camera and Mics.. The last ones I have bought were Labeled Hikvision. While it comes with box and it was also labeled as such I am not 100% sure they are.. Ds-2FP2020-A.. Main thing with the PTZ cameras like this, Mic mounted on a camera that is 40 feet from the ground would have hard trouble being able to pull in Audio from a scene that is 60 feet away of the center area of normal viewing area. Using Pythagorean theorem that is about 72.11 feet away.
So keep in mind that placement of the Mic isn't always at the same location as your camera. Take for instance if I was mounting one at my Arena off the barn and wanted the area to be covered on the other side of the 60 foot arena where my cameras normal area of view is. Then that is where you would want to mount the Mic. However if the area is on a closed wall area like the side of the house, Then I would mount the Mic at the area that is close to the main Region of Interest. Meaning if you mount the camera on the back of the house right side, Facing the front of the house on that side. Then best placement would be in that area. If you ran it just under the camera. Then the mic might not pick up things that are happening in that area being recorded.. Like say a pair of people talking about how to break into your home using lower door off that corner. Would not be heard if they were talking low enough for a camera that is 60 feet away has a mic mounted on it or right below it on the same corner..
About type of Mic, Most of them will work. Just keep in mind that ones with added on ends are not worth more then ones with bare wires seeing most times you will be running to a different location anyway.. I am not sure I have found a CCTV Mic that I couldn't use. Most of them are going to be 3 wire, Power ground and pickup. Mic ground and power ground are shared.. Very little current needed to power the mics

SOLVED!
Thanks for everything @Revo2Maxx, the info provided really helped me out!
So i managed to get the SD-card working on the device, so for everyone who is wondering why the card is not sliding in?
Its a clip style card holder so you open it by sliding the top-side to the front, then you open the clip upwards insert the SD-card and close the top-side down and slide it back.
And I managed to find the funny golf ball looking microphones on popular retailer website so I'm glad to get the audio working in the future
