IP4M-1053EW - IP4M-1063EW-AI

So I was on amazon looking up my camera, noticed that the original link attached to the invoice has a changed model number. Theres no firmware for IP4M-1053EW. Does the new IP4M-1063EW-AI firmware work on it?

Amazon says i bought IP4M-1063EW-AI, but none listed anymore. I am almost positive Amcrest just changed the firmware for it to include algo for person detection etc.

Potential for bricking if i do this? lol

if there is no current FW for your 1053 then there was something wrong with the last offered FW that needed it to be pulled. No the 1063 and 53 are not the same camera. So No the FW won't work. The 63 is an Ai Camera.

so why did they relabel the old 53EW to 63W-AI instead of making a new sku..

Seeing I said IF THERE IS NO CURRENT FW... I didn't say there wasn't and I went to explain why there might not be seeing you wouldn't be the first person that has said there was no CURRENT FW for their camera even though it was an older camera and they have DL FW in the past..

Why they call anything that they call it is up to them.. Have no Clue beside maybe because the camera is in the same General Look and has same type of features as the older Model with ADDED in AI, and wanted to keep the people that use that older model engaged with same type system if they wanted to Upgrade to the new AI version maybe?

I mean the 4108E and H are no where in the same line of NVR as the 4108E-HS One was 5mp older NVR and the HS was 8mp but features were about the same different case.. Now the new is 4108E-A2 or 4108-A2 and that looks like the HS but has AI features added if you have AI camera to add in.. If you want AI NVR then 42xxE-AI would be the line.

Plus the 853 went to 863 with AI again my guess is because they look the same and want to keep the users engaged with same type model with upgraded features of AI.. I mean then there is another with 8mp that is called a 2899 that is almost 800usd. I mean if there was 8mp before it they might have kept the same name as well.. There is a 1083 but that one came out around same time as the 63 models but looks different. To me I would have thought they would have made the 2899 the 1083 but oh well not my job to name the Devices offered...

If i ever get the time, ill prob dissect the camera to check the difference between new and old chips if any changed. For now im just parsing the old camera over its own Ai via its rtsp stream.

Well to be honest I have not touched a 1063 at this time so I can't say 100%. I do know there should be really very little that is the same inside the Module. Everything in the Base I am going to guess is almost the same if not the same. However in the Head. First Ram and Rom is 4g and 1g compared to 1024M and 128M for the 1053. Next is the Camera lens where the 1053 is 12x just like the 853 however the 1063 and 863 both 4g and 1g Ai cameras house the 25x Zoom lens.

Then the Tech of the 1053 if some other FW was used that might have AI it would be old Ai where what is offered in the 1063 is another level and one reason the Ram and Rom are so much higher. Personally wouldn't use a Different FW without knowing for sure that it was still supported and secure. Amcrest is here and care about the End User offering support even after the camera has EOL status.
