IP4M-1024e reset initial password

Post by HomerDoh »

I installed 2 new cameras on a new network, no existing cameras. Used the Windows app, connected both cameras, but then deleted the IP4M-1024e because I wanted to set them up one at a time...well it looks like now the default password doesnt work, either through the app or using a browser to connect, or using the phone app. I have tried all the versions of default passwords and none work. The other camera is working fine...

When I look at the one with the messed up password, in the IP config or in the windows app, it just shows offline...the IP address is set fine though

I need another way to figure out how to access it, because if I have to climb all the way back up to where it is, I will probably just replace it instead of finding the factory reset button!

Thanks for any help!

Hello and Welcome to the forum

Seems like you already know the answer.

Installling a IP camera and not having access to it out side of software there is very little that one can do no matter the brand or type of camera you use. While sure some cameras offer wire reset next to power and other wires and that is the easiest however Amcrest did away with that my guess would be to help keep our cameras more secure from outside attacks.

Your camera however is one of the oddest ducks. There is no button and when you want to reset it someone will have to take the cover off, then the IR board, then using paper clip or some other form of shorting 2 pins close together (I use some tweezers) and short out the 2 pads to reset the camera. When a camera is Reset it is admin admin there is nothing other then that so when a software reset is done it again should be admin admin.. However if you maybe were locked out then remove from power and power back up. Check for IP should be able to find it from IP config or on a computer using arp -a. Once found can log in and it will ask you to change password.
Be Safe.
