ip2m-842eb POE bullet camera need power supply
ip2m-842eb POE bullet camera need power supply
Hi I just got my 1080 POE bullet camera ip2m-842eb and it didn't have a power supply. On the camera end of the ethernet cable I'm assuming the camera will split ethernet data and power. But the router i'm using doesn't have POE ports. My plans was to use a POE injector at the router end of the ethernet cable. But there wasn't a power supply included. Looks like specs call for a 12 volt power supply. So would the power supply for a non POE bullet camera like the IP2M-842, The IP2M-842 is a wireless camera, hence no POE, so it must need a power supply. Specs show it is 12vDC.

Hello brucewol,
Yes you can use the same 12 volt power supply of the Ip2m842W. You can also use an active 802.3af compliant Poe injector which has its own power adapter to supply power to the camera. It also needs to be connected to router for connectivity.

Re: ip2m-842eb POE bullet camera need power supply
I am trying to set up a new IP3M-945E POE camera. I'm using a 12V DC power supply with the 12V receptacle on the Y connector to the camera, instead of a POE switch or injector. I'm following the directions in the Quick Start Guide: downloading the app, add device > POE camera > P2P connection. The app indicates that the green pilot light should be lit on the camera. It does not light, and I get a "connection failed" indication. I am assuming that the provided 12V receptacle in the Y connector of the camera is provided for powering the camera as an alternative to POE. Am I mistaken? It looks like the camera is not getting power.

Hello CharlieG ,
Yes the power connector is an alternative POE. There is no green light on this camera. You can cover the camera lense including the IR sensor for 30 seconds and this will enable the IR LEds and you can notice a red glow on the Leds. Just a way to check if cameras are getting power.
If they get power you might need to try hard resetting the camera. For this the front of the camera needs to be opened and there are two brass ports on the board which you need to short with a wire for 30 seconds.
