I was checking for firmware updates for my IP2M-841EW. In the search tool, it does not come up, only the back variant, IP2M-841EB comes back with firmware that I'm currently running on my white variants. It's from 2020.
If I search for IP2M-841 without the E or color distinction is shows a firmware revision that was just released in 12/2024. What is the difference between these two firmwares. Further searching indicates that the "E" variant is a newer version of the 841, so I'm not sure why the would be a new release for an older variant, unless they have their model number assignments completely messed up.
Of course the check latest firmware tool in the Amcrest web config doesn't work, so there is no way to find any compatible firmware for my cameras besides guessing. I got lucky last time that the IP2M-841EB was the same as the EW, but in black and that updated no problem. Still none of the firmware utilities work in the web config.
Has anyone tried flashing the IP2M-841 firmware to their "E' variants or am I missing a firmware that is newer than the sketchy Amcrest firmware web lookup tool returns?
Just a lot of confusion for no reason, functionality that should work, but doesn't, and overall frustration. Any guidance would be appreciated.
IP2M-841E vs IP2M-841 Firmware
Re: IP2M-841E vs IP2M-841 Firmware
Yeah didn't even know there was a new FW in 2024 for the normal line of the 841 seeing the last one was in 2020.. Anyway looking at the firmware page it says that the 841E is for EB, EW and ES version and is dated 2019.. Not sure where you found a 2020 one to install but if you have a 2020 version my guess is that it must have been a bad update and wasn't released to the General Public.. The last one I have is the one that is online from 2019 for my EB.. I will have to update one of my 841s and see if the 2024 is real or not.. Last I heard there was no more Updates for it after the 2020 version..

Re: IP2M-841E vs IP2M-841 Firmware
Well I can confirm that the 841 dated 2024 did install on one of my 841 normal cameras.. Kind of dumb that after 4 years still not supported in IE it still has to be used in Chrome or Edge normal.. All my other cameras that were bought way after all the 841 line still work and work better in IE mode then in Chrome or Edge.. But oh well.
