Hello rtucker55 and welcome to the forum. You will find firmware downloads on this page - https://amcrest.com/firmwaredownloads

p.s. rtucker55 is very right to point out the warning on the first page of this thread.

Hello longedge,

Thank You for pointing to the above location. After reading through the entire thread I now see that Amcrest has warnings about trying to go back to the previous fw. I don't understand why but the warnings have slowed me down as I don't want to brick my IPM-HX1 cameras. Possibly an Amcrest rep could clear this up as to Why we could not go back to the previous fw version?

Regards,

Hello all,

We dont recommend going back to a previous firmware than this one because the old one is less secure and our development team says you shouldn't be able to revert, despite that it seems some customers have been able to revert without issue, so revert at your own risk.

You unfortunately cannot use the Import/Export function for this particular firmware update. This is a major update as we transition from using a Plugin to using Javascript, as a result there are some unfortunate growing pains, going forward in future Javascript firmwares the Import/Export feature should work as normal.

We are currently working on a new test firmware, the Logo Watermark issue has been resolved so far, we are now working on making HTTPS work correctly, this may take some time as our team works on a solution.

Please let us know if any other urgent issues, I read there was an issue with Noise Filtering and Audio alerts, we will look into that.

Wish I had searched out this thread/forum before my upgrade this weekend, would have saved me about 5 hard resets & a few headaches!

Here's what I've found personally with a IP2M-841, mostly all related to issues previously mentioned. It's an interesting mix of what seems to work depending on what app you're using to try to perform the task:

Importing previous configuration - Using the old "Amcrest Web View" chrome plugin/app, I WAS able to successfully import the configuration I exported before upgrading. This was the only thing that seemed to work. As others indicated, importing failed trying any normal browser after the upgrade. There were a few settings missing/defaulted (my additional defined users were lost, all preset positions were lost, indicator light defaulted to "on") but most otherwise all other settings seemed to have imported successfully. That said about half the time when trying to click on "Import/Export" after expanding the "System" configuration area did nothing. Actually, clicking on any sub area after expanding the main tab would do nothing. Usually fully restarting the software and/or disconnecting any other sessions would fix this.

HTTPS - Pretty much what all others have said. Creating and installing the cert seems fine, but then you cannot connect over https. The one difference I found is that while not visible, the "Enable HTTPs" button (at least thru the web view app again) appears to be there. If I clicked where the checkbox would be, I would see the ability to Delete the installed cert disappear (as it did in the old firmware when enabling). Then if I hit save the device would reboot as if it was actually enabling (again like the old firmware). Then I found what others stated, the device soft bricked, was unreachable on any port, the indicator light remained on and red, and I had to hard reset the device and start all over again.

Manual Reboot - I use the "Amcrest Surveillance Pro" app when at work to watch multiple cameras at once. Attempting to do a "Restart" from the Maintenance screen failed with the error "Reboot device failed!" Oddly using the paid app tinyCam PRO on my cell phone to reboot the device worked!

That covers what I can remember offhand. I really hope that most of this gets addressed fairly quickly. While it's great to patch the cve, it's absolutely horrible to lose https!

Hey all,

We've just posted a new 841 (Also HX1/721) Release firmware on our downloads page www.amcrest.com/firmwaredownloads

This release is a small patch to the Javascript update in this thread, its main purpose was to patch the HTTPS and Amcrest Logo overlay issues as you guys have discovered in this thread. Please check it out and let us know any feedback you have. Thank you.

All done in Chrome...

So far upgrade went first try, file uploaded and the camera rebooted as expected, ALL settings appear to have retained. Went and created cert, installed, enable HTTPs as a checkbox is back. Saved, rebooted, camera is still accessible! Direct LAN connections however seem horribly slow (literal minutes, however it's about normal speed over plain http port but why? Processing of ssl?). Everything seems to eventually load however, perhaps is something with java or hardware limitations? Once it does the stream is smooth, audio & PTZ are working over https.

Update: After a camera restart, https connection seems even worse, to the point of not even completing a connection over https from local network.

I have installed "V2.420.AC00.18.R, Build Date: 2019-08-03" firmware on my IP2M-841 cameras, and it seems to be working fine. I did not factory reset because I'm afraid my WiFi connected camera won't reconnect to WiFi after being factory reset. Audio is working in Firefox (I'm not using the AAC format because its bitrate is set ridiculously low and sounds bad).

So according to what PsychoPhreak posts, the latest firmware replaces the HTTPS checkbox appearing, but doesn't actually do anything to FIX the fact that the camera becomes unusable when HTTPS IS ENABLED or when any of the TCP/IP ports are reconfigured. This is abysmally outrageous, Amcrest!! Get it together!

I am also curious if HTTP port still needs to be allowed open in router firewall in order for live camera feed to work (over internet) even if you're connecting via HTTPS. As that was the fundamental reason I was upgrading Firmware in the first place. Seems redundant needing HTTP in order for certain functionality to work over HTTPS.
