I found that the following hidden user and admin accounts are automatically added to the camera security.
username password role
888888 888888 Administrator
666666 666666 Guest user
default default Hidden user
This means literally anybody can access my home security camera, which I find unacceptable. How do I remove or change the passwords of these accounts for my camera?
How do I change the passwords of admin/hidden users
Re: How do I change the passwords of admin/hidden users
Hello and Welcome to the Forum
Very Interesting.. That is Legacy Dahua OEM products and I don't know of one in the Amcrest Line up not that I know of all the cameras they offer...
Sadly I would have to go look at mine that I have from 8 or 10 years ago.. If I remember right what I did was make new passwords seeing I couldn't delete them.. Also the ones I have still in play today I have turned off the ability for them to have access to the internet in my Router so nothing can get in or they can not get out so they are not sending info to outside people without me knowing about it...
most of the ones I remember even have a admin on that list of users as well I think I might only have 1 that didn't come with Admin account by default..
Another thing that I did. because one of them also had a Tech account lol I turned off all abilities so even if someone could get access they couldn't do anything however sadly I don't know that is really the case because if they have some backdoor that means it would be all access driven and not account driven so that is why I also turned off access in my Router that way I didn't have to worry about it..
Please if it is an Amcrest Product what Model and what FW is the camera or device on?

Re: How do I change the passwords of admin/hidden users
The camera is an Amcrest 1080P Pan/Tilt Wi-Fi indoor security camera.
Model: IP2M-841W-V3
How would I update my router settings to prevent anyone outside of my Wifi from accessing the camera?

Re: How do I change the passwords of admin/hidden users
Well on my Routers they are all different to a degree.. So I use one for my Main Router and on that one it is a NightHawk Router and you get to the List after logging in, Click on Advanced, then security, then Access Control. By default it is not active so one needs to turn it on. What I would do the first time if your network is as large as mine is double check all connections to make sure they are Legit and accept them all at first.. Then change the accept all rule to Block all incoming connections. Just remember when your trying to setup something or a friend comes by and wants to use your internet connection you will need to log in and give them access to your network...
Once you are setup for Access Control click on the IP for the 841 v3 and there will be or should be something that says like one of mine that says Deny Access, Block Access and another that says Revoke access. So for the Camera in question you will want to add it to the Black Listed or Blocked Device list... Once that is done you will see normally Green for Allowed and Red for Blocked once it shows it is blocked no traffic can get into the camera from outside the network this means you won't have P2P access to it from outside anymore either! Just keep this in mind..
From inside the Network you will be able to access the camera without an issue so you can add them to a NVR or ASP over the Cameras Internal IP and it will work as it would normally...

Re: How do I change the passwords of admin/hidden users
OK well I just checked another one of my Cameras that I know is setup the same way from Many Moons ago.. So I wasn't sure if there was other accounts on this one but I did add my account back, Made change to the admin password and I was able to make changes to the 6 and 8 account names as well.. Strange enough I was not able to make this change of deleting the accounts until I changed the password for them..
When your on the page for the accounts have you tried to delete them?
