Help Understanding MD Recording - IP2M-841B

Post by ctamcrest »

I have 3 IP2M-841B all recording to SD cards only (no NVR). They work fine for live view, but getting MD to work and recrod has been a nightmare. I've given up on uysing the Surveillance Pro software and just interact with the camera by loggin on to them through the local IP address.

I have two issues I am trying to resolve. I have read through a bumnch of forum posts here - and while hlepful, I still can't get these to work the way I want.

1) With MD, at night I get consecutive files that are all 8 minutes long (value set in Pack Duration). Those files show no motion, and images are mostly black. Occassinaly there will be a horter file (30 seconds or so) where car headlights trigger a MD event. AFter that event, goes back to consecutive 8 minutes files. Once it becomes light out, 8 second files stop and somewhoat normal MD occurs. I have a single MD region with Threshold at 5 and Sensitivity at 85. MD enable and Record checked and all other otoins un-checked. Record schedule is set for MD only, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

2) During daylight, mtion events seem to be cut short, or not cpature with the right pre-record. For isntance, if car drives into view and triggers MD, it has to be well withing the MD region and stored file does not contain time when car entered the MD region - even though I have prerecrod set to 5 seconds. Also Ther will not be a file shwoing the car leaving the MD region, but here will be a file with the car not in the MD region.

Settings I have - set based on my interpreation from other forum posts are:

1) Anti-dither - 20 seconds - I interpreted this to be the shrtest record length - how long to wait until allowing another MD condstion to create a new file so that you donp't have overlaping files. Not sure that is correct interpration

2) Pack duration - 8 minutes - the longest a file can be

3) Record Delay - 10 seconds - not really sure what this means. At one point a post forum lead me to believe this was max record length.

4) Pre-Event Record - how much of video to save in the file prior to the MD tirgger event occuring.

Can anyone confim if I am setting these up correctly or if there is something I an just not understanding correctly?
