Gmail Issues

Post by pdxrealtor »

I can't get my Gmail working.... this entire system is turning out to be one big mistake (IE TIME WASTER).

I've followed several tutorials on this website, no luck.

Amcrest - could you please provide an up-to-date set of steps that will get my email notifications working using my GMAIL account??

hi, I'm another user and do not work for Amcrest so please take this for what it's worth. I have email notification working from a 720HD DVR system to my gmail account. The SMTP server information needs to be provided by your internet provider. For example, I have internet thru cox cable so i put "smtp.cox.net" under the SMTP server field and port # 587. As to user name, password/server, I put my cox email address, password. I put TLS encrypt and put my GMail email address under Receiver. Emails from the DVR is being sent thru your internet provider's SMTP server. You only put your gmail address under Receiver field. Good luck!

Thanks for the info, however, I don't want to use my ISP providers info. I prefer to use Gmails.

Hello pdxrealtor,

You might need to check a few additional settings on your gmail account. The settings that work for Gmail are below.

SMTP server: smtp.gmail.com
smtp port: 465
Encryption: SSL
Username: Your complete Gmail address.
Password: Your gmail password.

Also login to your gmail and go to Settings < Account and Imports > Connected apps and sites and check the below settings.

1) Make sure the two step verification is disabled in Gmail.
2) Turn on the 'Less secure app' option in Gmail.

Thanks Melvin. I've done that, and have those exact settings, to a T. No go.

I can send you a screen shot if you would like.

Hello,

Ok. Did you also check if the 'allow less secure app' option is turned on? You can also try going to the camera settings > Network > TCP IP and change the IP to DHCP mode and reboot the device. The Ip might change after this. Try again with these settings.

@ Melvin - yes I did. I also got the email confirmation from Google confirming the less secure app option was enabled. I never have used 2 step authentication.

If I change to DHCP, how will I know where to login via my computer? For whatever reason using the system on the TV it's plugged into doesn't work well due to the picture size being larger than my TV

Hello,

Does the email test shows failed? Are you using the Amcrest Pro HD IP camera? These settings work usually without any issue on Gmail. If possible try a hard reset on the camera. You will have to set up the camera once again after this. I think you have done everything else correctly.
