FTP not working (Netgear router with USB drive)
Re: FTP not working (Netgear router with USB drive)
I feel bad for my "me too" post, but I am at a loss as to how you guys were able to resolve this. I believe I'm experiencing the same issues that @tsnprice was able to fix. I also have a Netgear router with USB-attached storage and can access it via FTP on other PCs/mobile devices in the same network. My Amcrest IP2M-841 ProHD, however, just can't seem to access the "local" FTP site (it can save to my web host's FTP though). I have attached screenshots to see if there's something that stands out as a clear cause for headache.

Re: FTP not working (Netgear router with USB drive)
I have the same problem.
Netgear R7000 router with USB drives attached and ReadyShare activated.
I can access the shared folder both as a network share and with FTP access from a local computer. This is all local network. No firewall involved. It should be a direct connection from the camera to the router - in fact, the wifi that the camera is connected to IS this router.
Yet no matter how I setup the FTP or NAS storage settings, it will not save to a network drive.

Somewhat comforting to hear I'm not alone. I just created a new post on the forum to see if it gets more traction, with better displayed screenshots...hopefully someone has a clue as to what's going on. New thread: https://amcrest.com/forum/ftp-setup-wit ... t1268.htmlscotl wrote:I have the same problem.

Same problem here as the original poster. Amcrest are you out there?
Re: FTP not working (Netgear router with USB drive)
Hello ,
Unfortunately it appears that the amcrest camera is not compatible with the type of FTP the netgear ready share is using. There was a suggestion in another thread regarding opening a range of passive ports on the FTP server as a fix for this issue. That is something you can look into toward fixing the issue.

Re: FTP not working (Netgear router with USB drive)
I had the same problem and was able to get around it by replacing the firmware on my R7000 with dd-wrt.
- dd-wrt version: DD-WRT v3.0-r30430M kongac
- Camera firmware version: 2.400.0000.15.R, build : 2016-06-15
With this setup, my amcrest IP4M-1025E camera can successfully upload the main video stream to the USB drive connected to my R7000.
dd-wrt is pretty straighforward to put onto this router and the community seems pretty active. Use google to find the latest image and any caveats.
I just did a factory reset on the router and used the netgear router GUI to upgrade to the dd-wrt image.

Re: FTP not working (Netgear router with USB drive)
Hi someone has solved the problem with ftp netgear
Re: FTP not working (Netgear router with USB drive)
Has anyone found a solution to this with the standard netgear firmware? I have an IP2M-844E that I'm trying to use with an R6250 router and it simply will NOT work no matter what settings I try in the FTP section. I have tried the IP of the router as the server as well as the "readyshare" text. The camera will write to a remote FTP server, but I need to write to the USB drive connected to the router.
I saw the post about "passive" ftp rules, but that seems to apply to someone running a computer as an actual FTP server, not the USB drive connected to the router. Any help appreciated.

Re: FTP not working (Netgear router with USB drive)
Hello gba88,
We have not had much success with the FTP on Netgear router with a usb drive. What works well is NAS devices such WD Cloud or Buffalo which has FTP support.
We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.
