Here is a screenshot of the logs from one of the cameras, it looks like it's triggering motion events during the day but for some reason it's not able to write it to the FTP server:
Not sure what is causing it. It seems to be something specific between the camera and Qnap device. If you power recycle the cameras, do they start working again? If that is the case you can try using the auto reboot option of the camera under setup > system > auto maintain
It might not be your problem, but it's worth checking. I also have my camera recording to a NAS device through FTP. After the last firmware update caused a lot of problems, my NAS FTP server settings automatically put the camera into the block list. It caused me some headaches figuring out why it had stopped creating files when I never put it on the block list myself.

Hi there
I have tried rebooting and I see that files are now being populated again. I'm pretty sure that eventually it'll stop writing files to the NAS but I've currently set the cameras to auto-reboot at 1am.
It definitely seems like a firmware issue, or maybe even an issue with the FTP server running on the NAS. I could maybe even setup an FTP server on a separate machine to see if the issue is present writing to that FTP.

Firstly, how do I check if my cameras are on the latest firmware? I didn't manually upgrade them, do they auto-update?
And the NAS is set to accept all incoming connections, so the cameras aren't blocked.
We do release firmware updates periodically. Please check with a different FTP server like you mentioned to see how it goes.
To check if the camera has the latest firmware, login to the camera interface from PC on browser and go to set up > System > Version. It shows the firmware version and the date. Match it with what we have on the below site which is the latest firmware version for all cameras.
Seems like Amcrest is selling products that are not working as advertised then making it very hard, if not impossible, for customers to find solutions.

Correct! Customer support is almost non-existent beyond vacuous promises. SW faults are almost never fixed (an ftp issue I reported, which Amcrest agrees exists, is not fixed after 9 months). They just sell shiny new hardware with buggy software and then abandon it.
