Greetings!
Is there some guidance available for fine tuning alerts from the IP5M-D1188EB-28MM camera? Presently receiving many motion alerts for bugs and shadows.

When it comes to Motion only camera setups that is the issues that everyone has. It is best to have Ai cameras with Ai setup and all the bad motion event no longer happen..
However with your camera model not sure if you have the V3 or the lessor but if you don't have v3 I see they are on sale right now for less then 70 I would personally buy the upgraded version. While it will help some it still lacks the horsepower of a full Ai camera. It does say that it offers Human and Vehicle SMD only thing it lacks is that for IVS so if you were to setup Tripwires or Intrusion it would trigger with everything that goes though the wires..
anyway if you are working with normal Non Ai version then it will be just setting the grid and playing with the settings until you find what triggers for people and not leaves or clouds. it is a PITA..
So I will show you what I am talking about.. In the pictures below you can see that I am recording full time on my NVR. I have my camera setup for IVS tripwires now in the picture you will see a tripwire in the street but it is only setup for Humans. So that is why IVS is low that is the first image showing the blue lines.. That is in my Driveway or the few that passed walking in the street..
Last image is my doing a motion detection Meta search. Now this is what would have happened if I had motion enabled to record. besides I would have had all that as yellow events and loads of alerts.. Anyway with this I know that each of them events for me are real Vehicle events that went though my area of interest.. If I had placed it at the corner there would have been a few more that came down street and turned up the hill and didn't pass my drawn in box..
This is a feature off my NVR but wanted to give you an idea of all the alerts that would have been sent if I was to have only setup for motion and first picture with blue lines that was like less then 20 is all I got for alerts because they were what I wanted to be alerted about..

The camera connections were integrated during new construction. Even if I got new cameras (which my project manager probably wouldn't like), it would be a challenging upgrade. The install was long after I bought them - serves me right for getting into this too early.
I'll continue to experiment with available settings. I also want to investigate Home Assistant. Perhaps it has an ability to process raw feed and provide the human/vehicle alerts I prefer.

I would check out Blue Iris, could help make yourself motion only cameras more user friendly. Typed this once before forum ate it lol
