Hello,
I have some Foscam cameras (and plan to add a new Amcrest one) outside of my house. But sometime I get some false positive on motion detection as some of you guys.
I am wondering if there is services with artificial intelligence that can be plugged to analyse the photo of the motion, and only raise an alarm if there is a person on it (no need for facial recognition).
Do you know if cloud service like that exist and that is compatible with our cameras (Amcrest of Foscam ?)
Thank you in advance
False positive - Do I need AI technology ?

Hello and Welcome to the Forum
So I would say that AI is going to give the ability for less False alerts.. About software that is something you would have to look up with other companies and try and find info on that as of now there are some out there that has been for years and some say work with cameras but isn't something I endorse and isn't an Amcrest product so I personally don't know anything about them so don't know cost or even company..
However with that said something to maybe look into if you want something from Amcrest that does or can keep false alerts down and that is an AI NVR. You could use Amcrest cameras already owned along with an Amcrest AI NVR for making things like Line Crossing or add remove that is outside of the normal Motion events.
I have a very old Gen 1 product that I use from Dahua and don't have Motion Detection even active but I have line crossing enabled and when the camera sends me an alert I know there is something that crossed the line no false alarms.. This is the type of tech the new Amcrest AI nvrs work off of as well. I am not 100% sure if they have Heat mapping but I know my system does and it is crazy that one can look up a weeks of motion to get an idea of where the most active part of the scene is.. Some people have said that there was Face or Human detection as well and I am not sure that is active in the NVR without a Face Rec or human AI camera as the unit for such detection to work. I am going to guess there might be some sort of AI in the NVR for it but not to the point that it will take pictures and store the data as it would with the combo AI camera installed..

Re: False positive - Do I need AI technology ?
Hello
There are two stuffs that you can do to reduce false positives:
- use AI-like technologies to identify persons/human/objects,
- combine your cameras with an AI NVR
The latest point has been really well explained by @Revo2Maxx.
Regarding AI-like technologies that could help you avoid false alerts, I have personally looked at two of them:
- Blue Iris SmartSentry https://smartsentry.ai/blue-iris/
- Recognicam https://recognicam.com
I have configured the latest one on some cameras and I have reduced a lot the number of false alerts.
Hope this helps!
