Export video from SmartPlay

Post by machalot »

I'm using SmartPlay to watch what my dog did while I was away. The video files on the SD card are divided up into 8 minute segments, or by motion events if they happened more frequently. This means I have several dozen .dav files. So far I can only figure out how to export them one at a time, because on the Export File tab I can't select multiple files. I end up with dozens of 10 second .avi files, but I want to export them as one big video file. Please tell me how.

Hello machalot,
May I know why are you trying to export the files? I am saying this because the files on the IP cams' Sd card can be directly played back via the cameras web interface.

is there a away of doing this without having to remove the card ?

Also in smart play how do you view the recording timeline with the motion indicators?

Hello,
Yes its possible to download the files from the SD card and save it on the computer. You will have to login to the cameras web interface for this. Under the playback interface, there is an option to download files to the PC. Smart play is only used for playing back the dav files. It does not have the timeline option.

I want to export video as one file so I can share it or upload it to Youtube. Reasons someone might want to share video are, to send it to the police for evidence of a break-in, or to show a dog trainer what the dog is doing while you're gone.

Hello machalot,
Unfortunately there is no option to export the videos as just one file. We do apologize for the inconvenience.

Thanks for your nice sharing. Media Converter for Mac is the only program that I have used to convert and transfer videos. If you have purchased videos from iTunes store, you may have known all iTunes videos are in M4V which DRM protected, making it impossible to be played on non-Apple devices. If you really want to play iTunes movies on Amazon fire TV, Google play, Chromecast, etc. You may have to use such DRM removal software to crack iTunes DRM protection and convert videos to MP4 and multiple compatible formats with lossless quality. After conversion, it wil be much easier for you to enjoy all these videos freely.
