Hi there,
What is the easiest way to turn motion detection ON/OFF?
I have the Amcrest View Pro - and noticed I could do it under settings, but the UX of the app is terrible, and if the "advanced settings" was not checked it erased all my settings (schedules, etc.).
What I've done is go through the web interface and "Setup" and then check/uncheck the box.
Reason why we're doing this is because we don't have a regular schedule during the weekend - so I've set the alarm to 00:00:00 to 23:59:59 (so it's always available and I simply need to turn it ON when leaving the house).
Is there a better way of doing this?
I may record the HTTP calls using Fiddler and then create my own "app" that simply turns the motion alarm ON/OFF. Am I missing something?

I have exactly the same problem.
This post offer a solution, even if it involve too many click in my opinion:
Very frustrating.
If you make your own app, i'll be very interested to get it.

#1 To enable and disable motion detection, you will need to open the app and click on the top where it shows three dots and three bars. Go to Device manager > Click on the camera name > Click on the computer icon. Form here you can enable/disable 'Video Detect'.
#2 Currently there is no option for this. We have this feature in line for future updates of the app.
#3 Since the email test works and still you are not getting the emails with snaps I would suggest you take a look at the below thread. Just ensure that you are not missing out on any of the settings mentioned there.

Yep, so far I am regretting buying this camera and not listening to all the complains about the software. I work as an upgrade engineer for software so I usually find out people complaining lack any knowledge and its their own fault but in this case , EVERY store is true. This software is HORRIBLE!
So many steps just to disable and enable motion detection and even then I still get emails every time besides the push unless I do it via the GUI. Its just stupid. I ended up moving the camera to the kitchen counter and basically physically moving it towards the wall to "disable" it. How advanced is that?!
Hope the next upgrade adds a simple widget button for on and off....

On this date 3/3/2018, I turned off the motion alerts as follows:
1) Tap the three dots/3 lines icon at top left of iphone view of app;
2) Choose Configuration Center
3) Choose Motion Detection
4) Choose device
5) Choose Push Notifications
6) Turn on or off for device
