DVR rebooting

Post by erac6329 »

Over the last two or three weeks, my dvr has been rebooting on it's own up to 5 times per day. Is anyone else having this problem? I call tech support. The guy remoted in to my PC and changed some setting for it not to reboot but it's still happening. Any ideas? Do I need to update my DVR?

Hello,

Is the power being provided to the DVR stable or does your area have a lot of power fluctuations? An UPS (uninterruptible power supply) can be used to stabilize and regulate the power to keep it from powering off. Also it could be an issue with the power supply of the DVR itself. If that is the case then we can replace the power supply for you.

I sent my DVR back in for repair and it's now worst than it was before. Before sending it back in, it was rebooting once an hour. Now, it's rebooting once every 5 minutes.

Hello,

If the DVR is sitting by itself with nothing plugged in but the power cable does it reboot? This is very strange and even more strange that the replacement reboots more often. Was the entire kit replaced or was it just the DVR? If it was just the DVR, was the power supply replaced too?

Hi

I'm not sure what they replaced when I sent my initial unit back in. I called tech support and they sent me out a new DVR. This one is rebooting as well now. Not as often but every 3 - 4 hours. I do not have power outages at my house. Nothing else in the house is powering off. I don't know what it can be at this point since I know the latest replacement is a new DVR and not the same one I returned.

Any ideas on things to try?

Hello,

Well if you're not sure if the power supply was replaced or not, please email [email protected] asking for a replacement power supply at Zach's request. Please provide your address in that email and I will make sure one is sent out right away.

Mine does the same thing now. Maybe once or twice a day it reboots. In fact it just did it a few moments ago and that's why I decided to post about it and discovered this thread. But mine never did it when I first got it and it's been plugged into the same outlet since I got it which has been several months now.

DanNeumann,

Have you experienced any power outages or possible power spikes? A lot of strange issues tend to be related to power instability.

Not that I know of or can recall. I've had this unit since February and it was fine until about the last 2 weeks and that's when I started to notice it rebooting often. My office computer is plugged into the same outlet and I've had no issues with it. And again, all was good up until about 2 weeks ago.

DanNeumann,

I would like to try replacing the power adapter for the DVR. Please send an email to [email protected] asking for a replacement power adapter at Zach's request. If it continues to have issues we can move forward from there.
