Hello all. I had this question added to a post already in progress, but I figured it would best to create a new post because the subject is much different. In any case, here is my question.
I am in the market for some cameras, namely the IP2M-842 bullet cams for outdoors, and the IP2M-841 for indoors. I just purchased an Amcrest 960H system, but I wanted to upgrade to the better cams than the ones that came with it; I read that the 960H works with ONVIF cams; so how does one go about connecting them to this DVR? Would they first connect to a switch that is then connected to the DVR? Or would I be better off just using the cams that the system came with?
Thanks in advance!
Connect IP Cams (IP2M-841) to 960H DVR
Re: Connect IP Cams (IP2M-841) to 960H DVR
Hello emets31,
The Amcrest IP cameras can be added to 960H system but it is not recommended as it has not worked really well from past experience. So the IP cameras can be bought and set up on wifi and you can still add them to DVR but it might not be stable on the DVR.
With IP cameras we recommend an NVR.

Re: Connect IP Cams (IP2M-841) to 960H DVR
Okay, thank you. I will take that into consideration. What if I hardwire the IP2M-841 with Cat6, rather than use it over WiFi? Would that make any difference?

Hello emets31,
Yes hard wiring would be a better option.
