I have a house that doesnt have a door bell and got a homedepot 16v transformer, mechanical doorbell, and the AD110. The instructions are confusing (for an novice).
Is the chimekit a wireless connection for the doorbell; meaning that in one area of the house I can have a transformer & the AD110 and in a completely separate area have the doorbell, another transformer, and chimekit.
-or-
must the AD110, one single transformer, chimekit, doorbell be physically connected.
Confused about what the chimekit actually is
Re: Confused about what the chimekit actually is
Hello and Welcome to the Forum
AD110, Chime kit and Transformer are needed with or without working indoor doorbell. 16vac 30va is normal Standard however if you plan to never use a Doorbell then I would guess a 20va would be ok as it don't have extra power to supply..
For my Stand alone install, I have Power, 2 wires going to camera and the Chime kit connect at the Transformer seeing that is where it would fit with camera having small hole not large enough for chime kit. For the one with a indoor doorbell I have the Chime Kit installed on the Doorbell it self.. If you don't install the Chime Kit when the button is pressed the Transformer will HUM because in a since your Shorting out the transformer. The Chime kit is a Electronic Switch that takes the Voltage and suppresses it in a very fast electronic way that will help keep you transformer live longer..

Re: Confused about what the chimekit actually is
So I did get it to work, but from the instructions it looks likes its basically just your standard doorbell wiring and you put the chimekit; one wire on the trans and one on the front connection. Just set it in there with the wiring and not a wire to chimekit to doorbell. Is that right?
Re: Confused about what the chimekit actually is
There are 2 wires coming form the Transformer, One normally goes to the Doorbell INDOOR Ringer and the other would go to the Camera and then there would be one that would go from the camera to the INDOOR Ringer and normally it would be on the Doorbell Ringer.
However in your Case in a Stand alone setup Just put the CHIME KIT on the Transformer 1 wire on 1 peg or wire depending on how it is setup and the second wire from chimekit is connected to the 2 peg or second wire from the Transformer..
2 pegs 2 wires 2 on doorbell camera 2 on CHIME kit connect to Camera 2 pegs or Transformer pegs either way both need to be connected
