Changing port 80?

Post by coondogg97 »

I already have software using port 80 on my network so when I try to remotely login using myip:80 I obviously go to that software. When I try to change the http port from 80 to a different port on the camera I get an error message saying it's not possible. How would I go about either changing the port on the camera or accessing the camera remotely if I am already using port 80 for something else?

Thanks

You can leave the camera on port 80 (my 4 cameras are). Just change your router's port forwarding rules to map some unique port (like 9090) to the internal ip of the camera at port 80.

If you need more help, then please mention what product you are using, what the error msg says and if the error occurs on the router or the Amcrest product...

Thanks for the reply. I am using an Amcrest ProHD. When I try to change the port from 80 to 88 using the IP Config tool I get an error HTTP port: 1~1024 is not recommended.. I am using a Comcast router and have no problem with port forwarding, not too familiar with port triggering though. I am currently using a security DVR on port 80. This is just being used as a puppy cam and I want web access to it.

Thanks again.

Hello,
Are you able to access the web interface of the camera locally from a computer? If yes, go to set up and then go to > Network > Connections and you can change the http port from there. For the remote access to work, you will also need to forward the TCP and UDP ports that you will see under the 'Connection' settings.

I do have local access but I was trying to change the HTTP port in the Amcrest Software for OSX. I just tried to change the HTTP port going through the web interface (locally) on a Windows PC but got the same error:

Port is already in use, failed to save (Ports 0-1024 are not recommended)

I have tried using a few different ports other than 80 but received the same error regardless of which port I am trying. I am able to remotely view the cameras using the Amcrest app on my devices. I can not view them through a web interface on a PC because when I bring up myip:80 it brings me to my main DVR which this camera has nothing to do with.

Thanks again!

If you go to Network -> UPnP note the external port number assigned for HTTP. If you see "Mapping Succeeded" next to this item, then your router wil listen for that port and send traffic to this camera when it gets Internet requests on that port.

Try to access your camera through a browser using that port instead of 80...

If you don't like the port assigned automatically, then you can manually assign that external port to a number you want.

Let us know how it goes....

Hi...i am a new user here. As per my knowledge you should change your router's port forwarding rules to map some unique port (like 9090) to the internal ip of the camera at port 80.Also please mention what product you are using.

Is that the same steps to change the routing port in a comcast xfinity router ? Or the steps are different. Know amore about the comcast router login steps here: https://10-0-0-0-1.org/comcast-router-login/
