Changed wireless network password now camera won't work.
OK I understand that I need to update the camera's settings to the new wireless network password.
The question is what is the quickest and best way to do this?
Do I need to delete the camera from my devices list and re-add the camera all over again?
There's got to be a better way.
I can only imagine having 20 cameras and having to delete them all and add them all every time I need to change my wireless network password.
This is for Mac and iOs.
Thanks.

Hello meTC,
Yes. Unfortunately the camera needs to be deleted and added again using the WIFI configuration method.

OMG! That's crazy.Melvin wrote:Hello meTC,

I was planning on building both my home and business security systems around your Amcrest cameras but if there isn't a smarter way to get the cameras online after changing the network password I don't think I will.
I can't waste my time going around to each camera scanning them in and reconfiguring them every time I change my network password.
My home and business would probably require about 40 cameras.
For both my home and business I wouldn't be able to easily reach some of them as they'd be mounted high up and in some cases on the roof.
Your developers need to be smarter and find a better way to update the cameras when the network password has been changed so owners/users are able to do so without having to touch the camera.
For example, better design is if the user can do this by software. Add the new network password to each camera via software before the network password is changed. The camera should be smart enough to hold and check the new password for a couple hours to see if it works or continue using the old (current) password. Or hold the new password until it receives the a use new password signal from the user.
Can anyone recommend a better security multi camera system for Mac where I can change my network password and not have to physically touch each camera to make it work with the new network password?
Thanks.
Re: Changed wireless network password now camera won't work.
It doesn't matter what camera you buy, if you change your wifi password on your router then any device that wants to connect to that wifi router will not be able to connect to it and you will have to start from scratch to find the router and add the new password in.
Re: Changed wireless network password now camera won't work.
What I usually do if I'm changing my wireless network password in the router is before I actually make the change. Log into every wireless camera you have setup using old password and change to the new password. After you have your new password set for cameras then actually change your wireless router to the new password and reboot router. Cameras using the new password will connect as usual. This way you won't have to run to every camera and re-setup.
Re: Changed wireless network password now camera won't work.
DeltaPro - as far as I can tell you can't change the SSID password on the camera in advance of changing the router SSID password. The web interface doesn't give you access to the password field for the SSID. Instead, it insists on scanning for a SSID, and when it finds a new one it will prompt for the password for it. You can't add or edit a SSID configuration manually. If you're already connected to your wifi network using the current password you simply don't have the option to change the password. This is very frustrating and prevents you from doing exactly what you suggest. I agree with meTC - this is crazy. Unless someone can tell me another way to do it, it looks like you have to use a wired connection to every camera to reconfigure their SSID passwords each and every time the router SSID password is changed.
EDIT: I should add that my frustration stems from the fact that I'm trying to change my router from no authentication (open network) to a WPA2 network. This may be the reason why I don't have access to any password field to change it in advance of adding WPA2 security to my router. If anyone knows how I can update my cameras in advance of making this router change please let me know.
