Can you prevent the loud beep when DVR starts up?

Is there any way to turn off the loud beep that happens when my HD-CVI DVR starts up? Not only could this happen if there was a brief power outage in the middle of the night (while we're sleeping), but I'm concerned it might also make the noise when the system auto-reboots once a week.

The beep during start up is not that loud and its normal. Unfortunately there is no option to turn the beep during start up.

Uhhh, "not that loud" is apparently a matter of opinion. I can hear it across the entire house even when the DVR is in a closest. It's ridiculously loud on my DVR. It's comparable to a few seconds of a smoke alarm sound. I can't believe that's not configurable.

If the thing actually goes off when the DVR auto-reboots (something I don't know yet), then I guess I'll have to open the box, find the speaker and manually cut some wires to it because it's simply not practical to have that noise going off inside a house.

Sure enough, it does make the loud beep on an auto-restart or if restarting after a brief power outage. What a pain. Apparently this product was never envisioned to be in a home.
