Camera changes resolution

Post by LJR2022 »

Does anyone have any idea why one of my Amcrest cameras would change resolution on its own? I had it set for 3840x2160, and after some amount of time, the main stream changes by itself to 1280x720. I am using Blue Iris software to monitor and record, but none of the other cameras I have exhibit this behavior. I am wondering if the camera is bad or what else could cause this.

What model camera and where is the change being reflected? BI? The camera soft/firmware? An Amcrest app? Amcrest Cloud?

If it's tied into Amcrest Cloud somehow, disable Amcrest Cloud and see if that resolves the issue. It is known for arbitrarily making configuration changes when integrated with certain devices.

The camera is an IP8M-T2599EW. I notice the change when I am viewing with BI, suddenly after a while, the resolution looks obviously much lower. So I log into the amcrest camera with the web interface and look at the settings, and sure enough, its changed to 1280. The amount of time it takes for the camera to switch to a lower resolution seems to vary. Sometimes days, sometimes hours. It looks like I set it up on Amcrest Cloud, yes, but I never used it and forgot about it. I just removed it from the Amcrest Cloud. I will see if that fixes the issue! Thanks for the help!

Yes, it looks like that was the problem. The camera is not changing resolution any longer. Thanks for the assist!

Glad to hear it.

Yep. Just another undocumented Amcrest 'innovation'. LOL
