What is everyones favorite router to use with your IP camera setup? Not all are created equal.
I had completed installing four 8 Megapixel cameras via a PoE+ switch connected to an Arris BGW210, and was impressed at the WAN performance from halfway across the country. But when I tried the same install with a different router, the LAN picture from even a single camera sputtered and choked. I havent gotten to the point of evaluating the WAN picture but I doubt its going to be better than the local networks.
First thing I noticed was that the troubled Linksys wasnt a gigabit router, which might account for the poor LAN performance when viewing a single 4K camera... my fault for taking gigabit local area networks for granted.
Bottom line, when you are talking 4K video, gigabit ethernet is the minimum requirement for stutter-free performance.
Anyone else have a similar install experience?

Re: Best Router for IP Cameras
Hi Patric,
I'd suggest going for an Asus router, like the AC68U. They're powerful devices with a good amount of RAM and processing power to handle higher throughputs and features such as VPN and NAS (all hosted in the router itself).
You should be fine streaming 4K on far lower bandwidths than 1Gbps, even 20Mbps upstream per camera should be adequate, you just need to adjust the bitrate settings down and possibly drop the framerate a bit.
