I have had an IP2M-841 for a few months and I'm struggling with getting everything configured properly for remote viewing using the iOS app or amcrestview.com when I'm away from home.
A couple days ago I completely reset the camera to factory defaults to start from scratch and now not only can I not view the stream when away from home but I can only view it using the IP Config tool when at home. When I try to view the stream via Safari the login page rarely even loads.
So my questions are:
1) How should my home router be configured for optimum results?
2) Should I keep the camera's TCP/IP settings as factory defaults or should I try something else?
3) Is it possible my ISP is part of the problem because of how they assign IP addresses?
So your answers are:
1) for optimum results you can add your camera IP as a static address and DMZ that IP, but wouldn't recommend it because of security. I suggest to enable UPnP in the router which should be sufficient.
2) I personally recommend to change the ports to something else. I have found that port 3165 has always worked for me.
3) It is very possible your ISP is part of the problem. Sometimes they block ports and/or have DHCP public addresses for you. Get a DynDNS address. Amcrest has a free service for this that works very well.
