I am experiencing the same issue. Has anyone else had this or know what the fix is? The quality of night vision has also deteriorated. This has been happening for the last 3 nights.

Hello Jwilks,

The battery symbol is an indication that the camera power is insufficient at night when the IR lights come on. As per our R&D this can happen if you use a different power adapter than the one provided with the unit. This could also be an indication that the power adapter is faulty. If the night vision is not working properly, you could try replacing the power adapter for the cameras. Also if the power is extended more than 150 feet, there can be power loss as well.

I solved my problem by using a 20amp 16 channel power supply and i used one power adapter for the dvr and used the 20amp supply for my 8 cameras i also shortened all my cables to to the right length that worked for me its been working fine after i did that.

Roger can you send a link of what you purchased on Amazon? Also how do I hook it up? I am having issues with the night vision in 3 of my cameras, I see nothing just blackness, didn't notice a low battery icon

I'm having this issue now on 2 cameras and my system is only a little over a year old. It did not happen until recently and my cable runs are less than 150 feet. How can I get my power supply replaced?

@TakMan Hello and Welcome to the Forum..

Sadly I don't care what anyone says there is no way that 150' should ever be powered by the normal Stock Power or run over the Junk Cables that most people have.. 150' is just to long on the power wire that the cables come with.. However with that said if someone is using Stock Cameras from same kind manufacture normally that will be fine as long as the cables were not damaged while installing them and most times this is what happens.. Someone will damage or Stress the cables in the supplied cable and doing so makes things not work or not work well... To be honest that might even be over stretching the truth.. Looking at 150' of 20awg and I am sorry most cables given in kits are not even with 20 most are going to be 22 or 24awg power wires and well just to go with 20awg because it is easier for my mind at this time...

150' of 20awg with camera needing .500ma aka 1/2 amp will have a power drop greater then 10% and your camera will only get about 10v real number 10.48v with a voltage drop of 1.52v and that is 12.67% drop... So here is one of the biggest mistakes that people will try to do and in some cases with good cables.. IF someone has large cables they can buy a Power supply like I have and like some others that might have bought a PDU what this is a large Power supply in a box that has 4, 8, 9, 16 or even 24 camera connection points. I have some that are 12vdc and some that are 24vac and 2 factors after this is work with how much each output can carry and that is Fuse size and Power supply output Current.. Anyway as I was saying before where some go wrong is they buy a PDU and on some not all they have adjustments for Volts and this will help add voltage to curve the Voltage drop at the camera.. However here is the issue with that.. Lets say you have one of the really good units like my 9 output 22amp power supply. This unit has fuses in place that are 3amp and to be honest you never want to run your system to full cap as it will pop the fuse another feature is that you can turn up the power as I was saying before and say that your 150' camera running good cables of 16awg and your camera is 12v. When you send 12v 150 on that cable your voltage drop is just over the 10% so with the PDU my supply has the ability to up the voltage some, then lets me get over that cable by up the power to 13.6v the drop in voltage would be 8.88% and would be 12.4v at the camera... that was with them being 1amp needed... However doing that on cables supplied with the cameras from some companies 13.6v from the PDU on 20awg wire (By the way most of the ones I have found and tested are not even Copper so my numbers are for better wire then they offer but I am doing it as if they were good copper wires) SO again same thing, 13.6v from PDU 1 amp on 20awg wire is a 22.35% drop and at the camera the power would only be 10.56. To be fair some cameras can run at 10v and and far as 9v however keep in mind with that much voltage going over such small wires it will not be long before they burn up and again as I said the cables that are in most of the cables I have tested from Nightowl, Amcrest, Dahua, Hikvission, Annke and a few others I have since forgot the brand I found that while some of them were not copper the Amcrest and Dahua and Hikvision had the best cables of all the ones tested.. There is one that I can't remember the name now that was 150' of garbage power cable and even the shielding on the RG59 was not Copper...
Be Safe.
