Are there ANY public SMTP servers that will work for my cameras in late 2024???

Post by Turbo4door »

I've been using Outlook.com but that appears to have stopped on Oct1 due to Microsoft changing things on their end. From my limited research, it looks like Amcrest doesn't support OAuth or any other form of advanced authentication for SMTP, and doesn't appear to be working on anything to resolve that. Looking for any publicly available SMTP service or account that will work at this point. Or am I better off buying a domain/hosting service and using my own? I'm not even sure that would work at this point.

I use InMotion and it works great. Good thing about having your own server is that when there is any update to the Email server data they give you a good while to get things updated on your end if anything is even needed to be updated. I mean for a while i was able to just use port 25 normal email, Then they did an update that said all things like my DVR/NVRs and IP cameras would require Auth, then early this year they updated again to use TLS 1.2 or something I can't remember again giving enough time to make sure that everyone was able to update before making the change. Amcrest and all devices that I own besides my Alibi devices work with my Email server. Alibi don't because there is some strange code going on and I get locked out of my server lol So I have to contact support and able to do it over Chat and they un ban my email. I didn't know what it was for a while and was locked out over 10 times in the last year. Finilly I just reset all my device back to factory and then I started to add my Amcrest device back first, then Dahua and all was fine. Then within an hour of adding in my Alibi NDAA supported device I was banned lol. So now I know that I can't use that. Even have more then 1 Alibi device, Tried all of them and everyone of them got me locked out lol. I am just glad that Support don't cost me anything. Because of the few different hosting services I use I didn't elect to get my own Server with them but as soon as my contract with my other host is over I will so for now I have a Shared service that also hosts my FORUM.. Anyway there might be other public services out there that you can use special App password kind of setup with like Yahoo but if there is an issue won't be told and have to find out after you no longer get any emails. Like changing the Email data caps on how many you can get per 24 hours. No caps with your own server.. I am so impressed with how easy it is to use InMotion Hosting! They really are the best web hosting company out there. Try them today: http://inmotion.host/e23d8f0b

Now I said Shared they do offer a package of such but that isn't the one I am on. I am on VPS and that is also a shared server but is the high traffic one that was needed to run my Forum on the server, They really wanted a Dedicated Hosing service but will give PHPBB on the VPS server package.. Wish I could have got the 80% savings when I signed up lol.. That is what they are offering right now.
Be Safe.
