Hi everyone,

Our sincerest apologies to those still having this issue, we are getting conflicting reports of some customers still having this issue while others state it has been fixed.

If you are still having this issue, could you please provide your phone version, iOS version, and app version? Please also update to the latest iOS version and/or app on the App store if you have not already as we believe the issue should be patched on iOS 10 versions. We'd like to get to the bottom of this and need detailed information as well as replication steps in order to identify what is causing the issue.

Same issue for me:

Phone: Apple 6s Plus
IOS: New version 10.2
App version: 3.40.0053

All other Apps and photos rotate fine. Hoping a fix will be available soon.

Hey nujer99,

Thanks for the information, can you confirm what steps you've taken to troubleshoot this so far? Typically we would ask users to:

1. Hard reset the camera
2. Uninstall and reinstall the app

What camera model do you currently have? Could you also confirm if you have set up any other features or configured the camera in a specific way on the app? Such as enabling certain settings or changing certain settings from default. How did you set up the camera? Using the WiFi Config method, P2P, IP/Domain?

Phone: Apple 6 Plus
iOS: 9.0.2
App version: 3.40.0052

I should point out that with the above combo I can rotate in and out of landscape mode when viewing event-triggered video, but again, not when in Live View mode; I should also mention that landscape mode works with the same phone/iOS combo but running app version 3.40.0048 but as I noted earlier in this thread, 0048 cannot be used anymore since push notifications for the app no longer function correctly on older Amcrest app versions.

In addition, I have an iPad Air 2 running iOS 9.0.2 and Amcrest app for iPad version 3.31.0202--landscape mode works fine in Live View mode.

Yes I do see that the current app version is .0053 but given the comments in this thread, I don't think I'll be installing that version on my 6 Plus just yet...and due to personal choice I can't upgrade to iOS 10.x--not that doing so should fix it, seeing that there is at least one person running the latest iOS and app version who reported that landscape isn't working in the Amcrest app.

Phone: iPhone 6S
iOS: 9.3.5
App Version: 3.40.0053

I still can not rotate into Landscape (full) view on my phone while in Live View, nor can my wife, who has an iPhone 6, and is running the same iOS and App versions as I am.

I see more and more reviews of the App in the app store saying that people can't rotate their iPhone 6 and 6S into Landscape view any longer.

Also, my friend who has an iPhone 5S, that is running iOS 9.3.5, and also has version 3.40.0053 of the Amcrest View Pro app CAN still rotate his phone into Landscape mode.

This issue seems to be iPhone related, as I see the problems are showing up more and more on the iPhone 6, 6S, 6 Plus and 6S Plus, and not on older iPhones.

I also have an iPad Air, running the same version of the iPad app as tonester, and it rotates into Landscape view with no problems. Is there a way we can get the iPad app version to run on our iPhones?

Sorry for the delay in responding.

Reloading the same version of the app did the trick for me. Images now rotate.

Thanks for the suggestion. I didn't think it would change anything but it did.

Hey nujer99,

That sounds great! Can you confirm you no longer have this issue? When you say you 'reloaded' the app, do you mean that you uninstalled it, then reinstalled it?

If you did the above, did you use a different setup method to connect to the camera, did you change anything at all to your knowledge?

Hey Jim,

Thanks so much for the information, unfortunately we've tested this in-house as much as possible and we're still not able to replicate it, we've tried on the following devices:

iPhone 5S (9.3)
iPhone 4S (9.3)
iPhone 6S (9.3)
iPhone 6 (10.1.1)
iPhone 7 (10.0.2)

The methods to replicate were to set up a camera using either the 'WiFi Config' setup, the 'Ethernet WiFi' setup, or using the 'P2P' setup method. In all cases when the live stream of the camera starts, rotating into landscape view works fine.

There was only one instance where landscape did not work, this was on our iPhone 6. When we initially set up the camera and attempted to change it into landscape view, it did not work. Thinking that we replicated the problem successfully, we force closed the app and reopened it to try again, but at that point, it worked fine and we've never been able to replicate it since.

We'd really need to replicate the problem in order to identify where the issue is occurring within the app, it's strange that the same iPhone with the same iOS version is not having the problem compared to others that have the same hardware/software combination, which makes this difficult to troubleshoot.

Raheel:

Thanks for posting your reply.

The problem with not being able to rotate the iPhone 6 and 6S into Landscape mode seems to be related to updating the app from version .0048 to any of the new versions after that. I have asked a few friends who have either an iPhone 5 and 5S to load up the newest version of the app (.0053) and see what happens.

Each iPhone 5 and 5S had no issues with rotating the screen into Landscape mode. I also had one other friend who has an iPhone 6S to try it, and sure enough, they could not rotate their screen into Landscape mode when they were running version .0053 of the app.

I have noticed that more and more people are posting reviews for the app, and everyone who now has a problem with rotating their iPhone 6 or 6S into Landscape view all said they had no problems doing that when they were running the older version of the app, especially versions .0048 and older, just like I am finding.

Here is what I have done so far to try to get my iPhone 6S and my wife's iPhone 6 to work: We have totally deleted the app from our phones and re-loaded the latest version (.0053) from the app store onto the phones. But still no Landscape view. We have updated our 3 Amcrest IPM-721S camera's to the latest firmware. Still no Landscape mode. I tried connecting the phones to the camera's using the wifi method, and still no Landscape view. I tried connecting the phones using the manual method by entering in each camera's serial number by hand, and still no Landscape view.

Is there a way you can make the older version of the app, version .0048 available for us? That version worked perfectly, and had no issues with rotating the screen into Landscape view.

Other than that, is there any other app out there that Amcrest makes that we try to see if we can make the iPhone 6 and 6S rotate into Landscape view?

Thanks!

CJ7VFR--you can't use version .0048...not unless you no longer need the app to notify you of event notifications.

Oh BTW--I did do a uninstall and subsequent reinstall of the app; as I noted earlier, the Live View frame will go into landscape mode...but that's before I have even added a camera--once I add even one camera, Live View rotate stops working.
