Amcrest Web Viewer for Chromebook (or alternative)

Post by markplewis »

Has anyone been able to successfully run the Amcrest Web Viewer on a Chromebook? I installed the app from the Google Chrome web store. The app loads and I can log into the camera, but there is no video, either live or recorded. Given the horrible user reviews and one-star ratings, it appears hundreds of other users have tried unsuccessfully to use the app as well.

That said, does anyone have suggestions as to how to view live and recorded video on a Chromebook?

Thanks.

This seems to still not be resolved. We are testing an Amcrest DVR in one location on our campus in hopes to replace all of our DVR's and cameras with Amcrest but without Chromebook support this is not a great solution. I understand that you can use the Android app in some situations but not all Chromebooks run Android and all of our Neverware/Cloudready machines don't support Android either. This is the problem with most DVR's they don't support modern browsers. Chrome/Edge support is a must.

Sadly as I said in a different post.. 2020 or 2021 Released products of Amcrest I am going to guess they would be released with Chrome and Edge Support and all DVR/NVR that still get updates from 2019 and 2020 or 2021 will have Chrome Support.. While it might be Trimmed Support it is still supported..
Be Safe.
