Just bought a couple of Amcrest AI devices (IP8M-26xx-AI, and NV4216E-AI), just to discover that the web interface is not plugin-less.
To have a working deployment (i mean "can see the live view on more than 4 cameras, or just replay a recording) you have to use a browser which is basically not supported.
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-za/lifecy ... xplorer-11
Unfortunately the cameras are already mounted high (4m or more above ground), or they could be eligible to return back.
Amcrest Web View CHROME EXTENSION
Re: Amcrest Web View CHROME EXTENSION
I am not sure.. I don't remember installing a Plug-in in Chrome for my NV4216E-AI..
What I can tell you for sure is that when my 2116-HS was on older FW it didn't work on Chrome at all. Then after the 2020 FW install it worked on Chrome but again found out that it would also work on IE still after installing a Plug-in.. So while it is Supported in Chrome that is one of the Drawbacks with in Chrome and isn't just my Amcrest I have other Recorders that is from another company that oddly enough is said to be Chrome Supported yet Chrome won't even display live view in the Chrome but will playback.. And that system works without an issue in IE in Live View and Playback in 1 4 8 camera views...
The 4 ch live view and Playback is a issue within the Programming environment or a limit within the hardware it self... I am not sure if it is limit of the Hardware, Programming for WUI or if it is caused by Chrome maybe requires higher resources for the same functions..
Also another thing that was also found when you install on Camera or Recorder the JS Firmware things that used to work in IE would no longer work in Chrome... I personally thought it might have just been a lack of programming and that it would be released in a newer FW after.. 1 and 2 FW later the function is still missing some as little as 2 way audio not working or the Mic not working or the Platform within the ability from 1 to the other.. However still not there 2 years later (Year and 1/2) to be fair.. So then when on my 2116-HS 4k NVR was giving the 4.0 FW that looks almost the same as my 4216E-AI NVR I was happy to find that the IE still works... Oddly I don't understand why the other cameras with 2019 to 2020 FW on it on the JS format will not work within IE however my 1046EW-AI does.. I am going to guess because again Chrome is a Function of being able to work just don't do all that IE can and it was programmed to let the NVR and camera work in both until either it can work with all features in Chrome or IE is no longer supported..
In all I am not sure it is Lack of Programming in Amcrest I think it is an issue within the Chrome system itself.. IF we look at things as it once was.. IE is owned by Microsoft and Chrome and other systems besides Edge is a 3rd party program that really don't get FULL 100% access to the Windows System and might be why the IE can do things that Chrome or Firefox can't.. To be Fair I am not sure who really owns Edge, Seeing it is running on Chrome Code..

You do not have to use IE to view 4+ NVR POE cameras on your PC, or playback a recording. You should be able to use Amcrest Surveillance Pro which can be found at https://support.amcrest.com/hc/en-us/ar ... llance-Pro
The number of 8MP cameras you can view at one time will depend on the resolution, fps, bitrate, etc. set on each camera. Another factor will be the PC proccessing power available.

"Beginning January 12, 2016, only the most current version of Internet Explorer available for a supported operating system will receive technical support and security updates."
Read it as "only the latest Chromium-based Edge will be supported, even if Internet explorer is installed".
I bought an HW NVR to avoid having a windows pc sitting there to record my cameras.
Surveillance pro is not an option unless I can use as an alternate client to connect to the NVR, and no, it does not work; only cameras can be connected.
So yes, it can be useful as an alternate real time viewer, but not as client for the NVR.
Thanks for pointing to it, anyway, really.
Could be the final solution for other readers of this forum

(I am picky and never fully satisfied LOL)

Re: Amcrest Web View CHROME EXTENSION
ASP can't connect as a Viewer for a NVR or DVR? Is that something new? Oh unless your saying that the NVR your using isn't a System built on the Dahua Format then you would want to look into the CMS for your NVR as I have a good few systems and unless it is a system that don't work with the Mother Software and they didn't make their own then I guess you might be stuck or just need to upgrade in the future to a Recorder that is supported... I have a lot of Amcrest devices and all of them can work in ASP besides one of them from 2015, Well did anyway as I have not used the new one seeing I am just using SmartPSS and my NEW AI NVR and AI DVR both still load in there and I assume it would in the ASP as well.. I have another system that I also use and use a software that is called iVMS 4200 The cameras that are supported by it while they do work they are no where as nice as my Amcrest and line of seeing the cameras that connect to the iVMS and recorders don't have a MULTI ability of connections SO while I am trying to log in one of my IP cameras I think I am locked out because it won't load when I am trying to use WebUI while the iVMS is open.. I can have many things loaded in my Amcrest line of cameras most times they come stock with 20 and I lower them to 5 because there should never be more then 5 connections to any of my systems or cameras...
Be Safe.

The second paragraph above says "Internet Explrorer 11", not chromium-based Edge. Your third paragragh interpretation above is incorrect. Review the links I mentioned earlier for further clarification.
Also, repeating what Revo said, ASP supports NVRS.

Was not able to include my NVR as a device into ASP.
Just put IP address (yes I set all static) and credentials I use via browser and... it did not connect.
I just tried now, and I figured out the username is case-sensitive. putting the correct name let me connect.
sorry about the fuss.

Re: Amcrest Web View CHROME EXTENSION
The Web extension for Chrome is very clumsy to use.
I use the 'IE Tab' extension, where it uses IE 11 for functionality inside of Chrome. You download the extension, and add it to Chrome. Then you use IE 11 to change any security functions and such. Specifically for Amcrest cameras, I access the camera via IE 11, and it loads the plugin there. Then when I use IE Tab in Chrome, it uses the IE extension, rather than the useless Chrome extension.
I started using this a long time ago to keep my ActiveX cameras functioning in Chrome. I'm remotely accessing my cameras, and add that HTTP site to the IE 11 'Trusted Zones', where I have a custom security setup, just for my cameras.
