Alerts for particular region of Motion Detection, how?

Post by papercrate »

I have an Amcrest 4k turret PoE camera at the entrance to my building (this one: https://amcrest.com/ultrahd-4k-8mp-turr ... -28mm.html). I am using the iOS app and the web browser interface to manage the camera. It currently records to an SD card in the camera but I also have a NAS on the network I can record to and will set that up soon. I have two regions setup for motion detection ("Entrance" and "Sidewalk"). My questions:

  • I would like to have the alert on the iOS app pop-up only when the "Entrance" motion detection area is trigger with an Event. Right now I only see the one motion detection region on the app, how can I enable this? Is it possible?
  • I have seen the "Anti-dither" setting described as how long the recording will go for once an event is triggered and also as how long motion needs to be active before the recording starts. Which one is it?
  • I don't seem to have a pre-record option in the web interface or on the iOS app, maybe this isn't available on this camera model?
Thank in advance all! I've had a good experience so far setting this up but am hoping I can get things dialed in moving forward. If anyone has some best-practices for a camera at a building entrance that would be very helpful. I am on a main street in a small downtown. I don't want to pick up cars driving by but would like a record of people walking on my sidewalk and definitely an alert and recording when somebody is in the entryway/stoop area and near the front door. Attached some screenshots of the view (it's a tall stoop unfortunately) and the regions I've defined. Any tips on sensitivity and thresholds would be appreciated. Also the anti-dither and record delay. I've been getting ~47 second recordings leaving them at the default options with much of footage after the event carrying on after somebody walking by has already left the frame.

Hello and Welcome to the Forum

Sadly to be fair there is no way that someone can give you an idea of what will work for your settings in this setup your showing.. Your asking to much from this camera...

What I see in your picture your motion looks like it is asking to keep track of the Sidewalk across the street and sadly there is no way that camera is going to be able to do that with any traffic going by as it it will it off.. Then on the area close to the store front any car at night going by is going to set off that motion alert

Anti Dither I have mine setup for 0, Record Delay is how long you want your Motion Trigger to record. So if your set at the stock 30, your clip could be 30 or some more depending on how much the camera is getting for motion in the screen 47 seconds your going to want to make sure that you setup a Pre event time that will work for your setup. I have some setup higher then others seeing it is in a motion of fast objects better to have a longer pre record time to get event as it starts in the frame not as it is leaving...

What your looking to do is something even in the position your camera is in isn't going to work well in still and that is a AI camera where you can put down lines for Line Crossing then your events will be true but sadly your camera placement is problematic.. This area needs a min of 3 cameras, One in the Stoop and 2 on the sidewalk area facing up and down the walk. THen you would want to setup your motion grid to be placed where it picks up in front of mid way of shop next door..

This Setup should be connected to a DVR or NVR that is recording full time with Motion events for Stoop and walk with for me a 60sec Record Delay... and Personally I would do 120 to 300sec for the Stoop incase someone stops there to sit and don't move enough to keep recording cycle this could give better time for what they maybe planning..
Be Safe.

Thanks! Yeah, I understand it is asking a lot of the camera. Fortunately I haven't gotten any triggers from cars driving down the road (it's one way too). I have the sensitivity of the yellow "Sidewalk" area set pretty low with a high threshold as I don't think it is super critical to capture and record pedestrians there. My main concern is the orange "Entrance" area. I would like to record both if possible and have the alert only happen with an event at the "Entrance" area. So that question still remains:

–Can you set an event alert (on the iOS app for example) when only one region is triggering an event rather than all motion detection?

I imagine I will be adding more cameras in due course, but wanted to find out what was possible with the one I have now.

Thanks again.
