720p hdcvi eco won't power on after power loss

Post by Adamw412 »

Bought the Amcrest 720p hdcvi eco system with 4 cameras, so far not impressed. Got everything hooked up, logged in, went to change the pw in the wizard and boom, it shuts off automatically, won't turn on. Tried several outlets, nothing. After about 15 minutes and trying one last time, it turned on. Okay fine. So again, I get logged on, now viewing cameras. I plug a third cable into the surge protector, dvr power loss again. Took 20 minutes this time to power back on. Logged back in, left it running, went to work. Come home 12 hours later, dvr is off, cameras are operating, and it won't let me power on the dvr. What is going on?! There really sucky thing is that this system does not have any kind of power reset button. It's got somewhat of a delay or something before it will let the unit turn back on. I am unhappy to point of being irate. I am unhappy enough to take down all 4 cameras, unwired my house and return it and spend a few more dollars for a competitor brand. What is going on with my dvr?

Update: ac adapter is fried I think. Now I can unplug it for 5 mins plug it back in and it powers on for about 20 seconds then shuts off. Still, I'm far from satisfied. I think I'm going to return it out of all the hassle

The first NVR they sent to me randomly shut off and wouldn't turn back on.

After my ordeal trying to get a camera replaced I'll be looking for another product next summer when I can replace the outdoor cameras.
