Hey guys, first post!
I recently updated my 720p HDCVI 4-channel DVR system with a 8-channel 1080p HDCVI DVR system.
720p cameras still work great, but the new 1080p picture is messy, unrefined & grainy. The houses in the distance look to be ghosted AND it's night vision keeps cycling on and off. I pulled the power plug from it.
Why is this happening? This is all Amcrest stuff. I bought the 1080 DVR so I could upgrade to 1080 cams.. but so far, no luck. This is the SECOND 1080 cam I've tried in the same spot, same results. I thought the first one was faulty.
Thanks for any help!!!!
Kevin

Here is what I'm referring too. Please see attached shot taken from the new 1080, and the crystal clear shot from my 720 cam.

Is my post even on the forum?
Re: 720p cams fine, added 1080p cam= bad picture no night.
This may not be your solution but... I use IP2M camera series and when I updated the firmware it reset the high resolution setting to 640x480. I just had to change it back to a higher resolution.

this is the strangest forum, posts disappear... this one with one reply from Markcm is a separate entity from the other even though they are the same post? Strange.

Thank you Markcm for your reply. Unfortunately, I tried this and it says it's 960*1080(1080N). I DID notice, when the camera is first plugged in, it's size is much more square then the other cameras who start is a horizontal rectangle.markcm wrote:This may not be your solution but... I'll attach what it says it's default settings are.... thank you for any help!!!!!!!

Unfortunately, this forum is a bit like all things Amcrest; with quirks, bugs, and limited support.kbuicker wrote:this is the strangest forum, posts disappear... this one with one reply from Markcm is a separate entity from the other even though they are the same post? Strange.
I notice this inconsistency with the forum too; I've gotten in the habit of refreshing the browser (control+F5) each time I load a page. If I do not refresh the page it seems to load a cached view.
Re: 720p cams fine, added 1080p cam= bad picture no night.
Wonderful. Their customer service logged into my system and could not resolve the issues. She basically told me the DVR their Amcrest sales rep sold me in September is NOT compatible with the Amcrest 1080p cameras. HUH!?!?!?!
She reduced the camera to 960 and I still have the same horrible results. Let's hope their online support comes through to resolve this.

Re: 720p cams fine, added 1080p cam= bad picture no night.
I figured it out, the DVR they sold me, the AMDVTENL8 1080P, that says it's a 1080 DVR right in it's name, actually does NOT work with 1080p cameras...
Re: 720p cams fine, added 1080p cam= bad picture no night.
Their sales staff is ill-informed, even they thought it supported 1080 cameras (2 different sales staff members). Their customer service is friendly enough but unwilling to make this right.
This stinks.
