2 out of 5 P2P devices stopped in app
2 out of 5 P2P devices stopped in app
I have 4 Amcrest IP cameras and an Amcrest NVR in my business. Overnight one of the cameras and the NVR have lost contact via P2P with the IOS iphone and ipad app. All 4 cameras still maintain contact on the LAN with the NVR and are displaying and recording as they should. However, the NVR and one camera, as I said, cannot be contacted by the app. The IP addresses are static and have not changed. I am used to the app displaying two images of each camera, one direct from the camera and one from the NVR. Any thoughts? Amcrest support had none. They suggested opening ports, which I am not opposed to doing but, that is not the point. I would like the app to do its job as it has for a year now. It all worked well until last night and today. I looked at all of the cameras and settings via Amcrest IP Config and AmcrestView today on the LAN and find nothing unusual.
Re: 2 out of 5 P2P devices stopped in app
Can you view and use the NVR and camera(by itself) on amcrestview.com?
Can you view and use them with phone locally connected to your LAN? How about when using phone remotely with cell service?
That could help in determining if P2P is working for those two devices.

Re: 2 out of 5 P2P devices stopped in app
The two devices in question are not accessible via P2P from any place outside of the LAN. They just suddenly stopped while the other three are fine. Yes, the two are able to be viewed from the network with AmcrestView and Amcrest IP Config but not via the app outside or inside of the LAN. The NVR is happily recording the one camera that ceased to be available via P2P. Weird, right?
Thank your for the response.

Re: 2 out of 5 P2P devices stopped in app
To try to get the P2P server working again remotely, this is what I would do, but don't know if it will help.
Remove camera from amcrestview.com and any device that you have added camera to with P2P. Disable P2P in your camera. See https://support.amcrest.com/hc/en-us/ar ... P2P-Status
Then wait awhile, maybe 2 hours. Then enable camera P2P and add camera back to your devices. If that works, do the same with NVR.
Otherwise, you could contact [email protected], describe your problem, and see what happens.
Also, you could use port forwarding which is not as secure as P2P, or use your own VPN server which would provide the most secure remote connections(Example: Asus Router that supports OpenVPN).

Re: 2 out of 5 P2P devices stopped in app
Thank you Jack. I'll give this a try next time I am in the shop. Therein lies the problem and the need for the cameras. I am not in that location often.
Re: 2 out of 5 P2P devices stopped in app
Funny thing today, out of nowhere, my iPhone AmcrestViewPro app started showing one of the two problem devices. However, not on my ipad or AmcrestView browser in Sea Monkey. The iPad app says connection failed. When I attempt to view on Sea Monkey I enter the device S/N under "Device" and it tells me it is an incorrect ID or the P2P is not setup. This is the craziest nonsense I have ever experienced with Amcrest. All of the other devices work as expected. I'm wondering if I should have just gone with the Costco camera / NVR package last year.
Re: 2 out of 5 P2P devices stopped in app
I just spoke with Amcrest phone support moments ago. They tell me that the iPad app and Amcrestview.com are having issues, such as mine, that have been reported to them. This has not been on all device ID's but on many. They expect to have them resolved shortly. However, they have been out for a week now.
My experience with all three modes of communication has been that when one is down all are down. This is new. I have been tearing what little hair I have left out trying to diagnose this issue at my end. I'm not convinced I am being given the correct info by support.

Re: 2 out of 5 P2P devices stopped in app
Well, the support group was correct. Several days ago the NVR came back online with iPad app and amcrestview.com and yesterday the remaining one camera came back. Thanks Amcrest. However, why did this happen and why did it take so long to rectify?
Re: 2 out of 5 P2P devices stopped in app
As far as I can tell it coincided with a security update to IOS.
