Which Monitor?

I purchased the 1080P system with 4 x 3mp cameras. My question is regarding the best monitor to get with this system. Is there much difference in quality between a monitor with HDMI input vs the VGA? The box states the DVR is compatible with numerous resolutions, so I am wondering what others have found to be a good resolution for the monitor. I don't need to see the pimples on faces, but I do want a crisp picture. Thanks
