Re: POE networking cables

Post by Revo2Maxx »

So I bought a Cable from someone that said it was 150' of POE grade cable I bought it even though I didn't need cable because I have a few boxes of 1000 5e already.. But I wanted to show people what I am talking about when i say be Careful...

First picture is the 150 feet of POS cable it has marking on it that it is real cable but the pictures don't lie... It is not POE grade Cable let alone Cat5e and in no shape or form TIA/EIA or UL listed even though the cable is marked as such.. I knew better but I wanted to test this cable on a POE camera and sure enough it worked for maybe 50 seconds.. Long enough for the camera to come online and able to be seen on my NVR... however now that camera is no longer any good because now it goes into a Boot loop... It is a 2012 1.3mp camera so no big loss.. If I had done that to one of my PTZ Dome cameras I would be calling my lawyer however that is just it.. Most of them places that sell this JUNK just pull up shop and bail how will you get a cent plus it was bought from ebay so BB...

Now I will have to take the camera apart look for bad part and replace sadly this can be hard to find because you can't get a Schematic for the camera... My guess will be bad cap or resistor in the circuit.. In most cases these cameras are cheap enough not even worth fixing Buy a newer one lol...

Picture of 150' cable NOT TRUE CAT5e cable it is a lie...
