Linux/Amcrest Web View app working--->

Post by martin777 »

I just installed Linux Mint 18.3 Cinnamon 64bit 4.1.0.0-38.
Installed Google Chrome Version 67.0.3396.79 (Official Build) (64-bit).
When you launch Chrome for the first time you must wait a LONG (1min?) time
for a window to open asking for a token password.
Then a small Google window will appear in the taskbar that when clicked jumps
across the screen and jumps back really fast.
My workaround was to select "Mirrored Displays" in Menu/All Applications/Display.
In Chrome install the Amcrest Web View app HERE
The app will appear in the Linux Menu/All Applications list after installed. I just pinned it to the taskbar.
You DO NOT need to open Google Chrome for the app to work but Chrome
MUST be installed.
Just enter the IP address of your camera and login.
IT WORKS. Seems to have all the camera functions. I can even download files
from my cameras SD card to my Linux PC.
I could not get Google Chrome to work in Linux Mint 17.2 or Mint 19 (beta).
Your mileage may vary. Good luck.

Please let us all know if this works for you.
