My thoughts:
1. To force use of Smart Home server for P2P(serial#) function.
2. To make it easier to use Amcrest Cloud since you're already signed in.
I would consider these marketing reasons.
Does anybody know of any other reasons?
Why does Smart Home app and AD110 require a Smart Home server?
Re: Why does Smart Home app and AD110 require a Smart Home server?
Well I have a good reason but I can't talk about it...
Past that, I am going to guess that most times there are things that the camera uses the Server for AI type info.. However in these cameras doorbell I am not sure why it would be tied that way seeing they are not AI in nature... However this may also be where the Tied in Answer and hangup function comes into play... Best to be Tied into P2P already to get alerts while away with P2P it would be easiest way to make that Happen...
The main reason I can't talk about would only bring Drama and issues that I don't want to promote.. I am not much happy about it to be honest and is a Theory
