No Alerts from AVP2/IP5M-D1188EW

Post by JDOhio »

Greetings!

I set up my cameras (IP5M-D1188EW) on AVP2. I enabled Motion alerts but received too many. I disabled Motion alerts and enabled SMD alerts (Human and Vehicle). In some testing walking in front of the cameras, I get no alerts for Human. Cameras too old? Some setting I missed?

Thanks,
Joe

Did you infact enable SMD in the camera? IF the camera has SMD it needs to be Enabled.

Looking up the first Gen 1188 it is just Motion so there is no AI that I can see, The 1188EW-V3-Ai does have Ai I didn't' look up what is offered but if you are using older camera that is going to be Motion only and even with SMD enabled motion will also need to be enabled so all motion events will happen just be able to play back human or vehicle as well as get alerts for them in the app as you have tried to setup now..

Thanks!

I suppose the cameras do not support a firmware upgrade that would add new functionality? Even for a modest fee?

To be honest when it goes from a normal name to a v3 or larger the chip set isn't the same so the options that are able to run on the v3 is because of added hardware in the circuit it self. So sadly no. Now there are some other people that have upgraded a different camera to another FW type from Dahua and some were able to get Ai from it.. To be honest I think they were lucky. Becasue I personally bought the same model with the intent to update to the Dahua Firmware to see, It didn't update. So asking a friend that has one that was able to update. Had him run a CGI command that tells the cameras CPU and the one I had didn't have the same CPU and now I undersatnd why some people said they could and others couldn't becasue the ones that were able to had the real Dahua CPU and the ones that couldn't were built with the normal Amcrest CPU. So my guess is that Amcrest bought some when factory was out of the Amcrest CPU and to make the sale was built with CPU from the Dahua line with the Amcrest software.. Problem is if your camera had such an ability if it didn't upgrade to something that you wanted with extra IVS aka Ai you would be stuck on that Dahua firmware becasue it is a 1 way trip.. Dahua might never put out another update and Amcrest might and it might fix something that is found to be a bug that wouldn't get an update becasue for Dahua that line is now EOL aka End Of Life..

So from my camera logger here is an idea of what I am talking about. While this is a different camera it shows that the V3 is different CPU then the normal line..
CPU Model
SSC325DE IP2M-841W-V3
S2LM IP2M-841W
