how to uninstall amcrest surveillance pro

Post by mxlplx00 »

Hi,
I installed this for my Amcrest IPCam but it's taking up too much memory and refuses to let me uninstall.
How do I remove this program from my PC.

Thanks
Marc

First you will need to turn off the PC-NVR once that is off you will be able to uninstall it (Should be able to anyway) Also if you had it running with space taken by the program you will want to release it before you turn off and uninstall it

This process is not working for me as I cannot see anything on my screen but a small window that tells me that it or pcNVR is already running and that i must close that before I can uninstall it.

@rcmedic Hello and Welcome to the Forum

SO on the right side of the screen bottom is your computers clock, next to that area is hidden icons. normally can be found pressing the ^. In side of there is a few ICONS and one of them will be PC-NVR. Right click it and go to Quit. Then you can uninstall the program once it is turned off.
Be Safe.

Yeah, this new d*mn Amcrest/Orion Server/Client software is a monstrosity and a kludge; likes of which, I have never encountered since IBM 8086!!
@mxlplx00 >> re: "...but it's taking up too much memory and refuses to let me uninstall"

I could not keep-up jotting down or counting fast enough at the number of Windows11 'drivers' it was installing in my system during the procedure:
AEUS02 thru AEUS10 drivers [?], *.PTS, *.VMS, *.MTS, *.BSID, *.NGNX,.................................................. it just continued to keep installing bunch of other crapolas and my notes say greater than 80 (">80").
Installation of the Orion (server/client?) is but where the fun JUST starts:
Upon (1)Realizing what a memory hog it was during the first few launches, and then, (2)Seeing all of these Orion services/processes in Windows11' TakManager, and then (3)Determining that this Orion software kludge was as useless as their original/previous Amcrest software suite (for Amcrest networked/POE cams) << I finally decided that Amcrest/Orion needed to be UNINSTALLED from my system.

Remembering that Amcrest was the company that recommended the use of payware BlueIris software instead of their bundled crapola software, because it was THAT bad!

DON'T TRY an UNINSTALL. Outcome will scorch your registry and destroy every network connection in your system and indiscriminately.
I normally use REVO Uninstaller (w/great success) during installation of any software on my system, so that it can remove the crap most software leave behind in the registry (etc.) by tracing the install procedure. I had even allowed REVO to create a Win11 SystemRestore point and a Win11 registry back-up prior to Amcrest/Orion installation.
2 days later upon my proper (and traced) uninstall procedure (and using the REVO' SystemRestore/Registry backups), I had to reinstall the drivers for my NIC cards and reset my Cable router/modem.

Amcrest needs to make an uninstaller software, like Notron Security had to do a decade ago, because uninstallation was never successful with Norton, as is with Amcrest/Orion.
